A few years back I think the NCAA added the "Collision Rule" (8-7) which made nearly any significant contact at the plate by the baserunner to the catcher above the waist an out, unless the player is clearly sliding toward the base. The rule basically defines contact above the waste as an illegal attempt to dislodge the ball.
As SmithRiver points out, I think if tagged out, there would have been obstruction. Taking a quick look at 8-7, there doesn't seem to be anything covering if the act of obstructing directly leads to a runner contacting the catcher above the waist (so I guess replay looked first to the runner having responsibility to approach the catcher in a full slide, not starting a slide, I don't know?).
I guess now in this situation a player must potentially take the out and hope for obstruction rather than risk hitting the catcher up high. Tough to teacher a player to do. Sort of reminds me of the early years of targeting in football where players just had to learn they could no longer do certain things? Even if the catcher is doing it wrong, the baserunner needs to first make sure they won't contact up high (which I'd agree isn't always easy when a catcher is crouching down to try for a tag).
None of this matters as the catcher didn't have the ball. This was obstruction and it was an inexcusable call.

So much for the "legitimacy" of college baseball...
It doesn't matter if we would have won or not based on that call. What matters is that the officiating crew violated the spirit of the game, the spirit of sportsmanship, if not the rules themselves.
Can anyone explain what the runner was supposed to do? The catcher didn't have the ball AND was blocking the plate. Not only was he blocking the plate but as the runner approached the plate the catcher dropped his shin/lower leg to block any attempt at a slide.
This call was an absolute outrage. The game should be replayed. The crew should be terminated with cause.

"This Team is Going to Have to Figure it Out"
Says Altman. I assume he means he's no longer able to contribute, it's all on the team now.

Last night around 6pm I was considering watching, then I thought about the last game, immediately stopped thinking about Duck Bball and went on about my evening.
Do these guys even deserve to be watched?

He will go wherever he can make the most money. I can't believe Jerry Jones would bring in such a horrendous coach and spotlight-taker. But we shall see.
This all sounds EXACTLY like something Jerry and Deion would be up to...

Is it possible for both teams to lose? One can only hope...

At what point will something be done about officiating? Officiating has become increasingly (to the point of being blatantly) biased while the conferences and the NCAA seem to think the best solution is to punish anyone who points out the obvious..
As with most everything else in this world, truth, fairness and reality are all too often cast aside in favor of some dishonest knob and their favored narrative

This is much bigger than just TL. Yesterday was a stem to stern failure for the Ducks. They simply weren't ready for what they already knew was a bigger, faster and stronger opponent.
The Ducks appeared to have approached yesterday's fiasco as though they were playing Purdue. In the end we got away with one playing tOSU earlier this year.

Nick Fairley was extremely talented at committing personal fouls that wouldn't be detected by refs, even with the refs looking straight at the foul being committed!

A clear and solid victory!

Dieon's incessant chirping finally caught up with him BIG TIME. By the middle of the third Dieon was looking about as confident as Ty Thompson last week.
"Writing checks your azz can't cash" seems to be Dieon's new motto!
Heisman recall?

It was very kind of the Gators to allow the score in the 4th. The Ty Thompson experiment appears to have ended.

If the coaching staff thinks he'll be a good fit, then he'll a good fit.

No, no and NO!
A top ten WR and CB? Sure. But this GOAT crap is WAY over the line.
-
Think of it this way. If we win out we will be at 15-0 and will have played through an incredibly tough, lopsided bracket, something that may never be seen again.

No fire, no "it" factor, just a big guy who managed to attract a five star rating five years ago.
Third time is probably NOT the charm.

Meanwhile, the best of the BIG12 means ASU dominating ISU.
Too bad some of our former PAC12 brethren didn't make it to the SEC, if the SEC would've even allowed it (they wouldn't!).

Did the Controversial Call Cost Oregon the Game Against Utah Valley?

The game crew, the remote crew, maybe the double-secret-remote crew? As long as they got away with it (and they got away with it) who cares, right?
