Ok, it’s time to burst this bubble.  I love Ionscu.  Absolutely love her.  She got her title in Clark’s debut year, and I can’t even go into how angry I am that Sabrina didn’t get her cbb title or why.  It’s that egregious and insidious.

However, Caitlin Clark is Steph Curry 2.0.  Now.  You don’t have to wait five years, you don’t have to wait three.  Caitlin Clark is going to obliterate every WNBA record that stands.  She is beyond Kobe, Magic, Bird, and Wilt.  That girl is already Michael Jordan material, and she is a brand my dear Sabrina will never outshine.

I’m all for being a homer, but there absolutely is no comparison to what Caitlin Clark has already done for the WNBA, and who is the better player. And if you want to debate that, tell me how Clark was the one that got EVERY WNBA TEAM charter flights one month into her career, while Sabrina hadn’t in four years.  Not to mention TV viewership is beyond the stratosphere, and Sabrina doesn’t come close to packing arenas like Clark does.

Caitlin Clark is already more popular than Lebron.  You know, the world wide brand of the NBA.  Sorry guys, Sabrina is a star, Clark is a supernova.

Not to quibble, but when the referenced note was posted in March 2024, Clark was as yet unproven in the WNBA. With that rookie year under her belt, I would not argue with Clark being the supernova as stated. The definition of the term is a cosmic explosion that can result in a black hole or cooling cloud of stellar dust.

Odds are Clark will continue to shine in the WNBA. She certainly has clout and is a huge draw for the league. Whether or not she is the GOAT remains to be seen, but she is certainly the face of women's professional basketball and has brought unparalleled attention.

  2. I humbly disagree that Moore was only average. His O-line was more porous than the one Novosad had and he was pressured more as a result. When he had the time he was accurate and found Sadiq repeatedly.

I'm thrilled that OBD will have two starting caliber QBs with a greatly improved (and Marcus like) Moga in the three spot. Hopefully they will all stay put at Oregon.

  3. This was the best spring game in recent memory for me. I need to watch the replay at home to be sure. So much talent on both sides of the ball.

Nothing like the roar of F-15s overhead to get things going.

    A few first impressions:

The game seemed a bit more defense oriented. Offense had the benefit of several holding calls that went unflagged. Both starting QBs played fine, Novosad perhaps a bit better but he had Pancho at center and World at LT, both were stellar.

World is the real deal. Battled Matayo to a draw several times.

Sadiq will be a beast regardless of who is the QB. The power of a TE with the speed and athleticism of a big WR. Best athlete out there today.

Dakorien Moore is as advertised, but McClelland and Gresham had good games as well. No Stewart and Dickey was invisible until the end of the game. Transfer WR Benson dropped a gimme pass that he will hate to watch on film. Ploog may carve out a small role at TE

The RBs all ran well. Noah looks back to form and he and Hughes will be a great 1-2 punch. Lamar looked bigger and better than last year, and "Dink" could be the '3' back as well.

On the D side, Washington and Purchase played solid, as did Grey. Alexander blew up an OG once into the QBs face and will be a good Harmon/Caldwell sub if he carries this to the fall.  Nice scoop and score by Purchase on the Harris fumble, which Obedegwu forced. Mixon very quick on his blitzes. Flowers was a standout on several tackles, leveling Sadiq after a hurdle. Sadiq got payback later in the game, leveling Flowers on a tackle. Thieneman was very saavy and active but did overrun one play in the backfield. Offord and McNutt each had nice PBUs. It was good to see Florence back. The DB room looks solid even with all the new faces

Sappington had a nice day but RSFr Hurych impressed, connecting on two FGs (51yd long) and a couple TBs on kickoffs. He has a low kick trajectory but a howitzer leg. Ross struggled with his first three punts, making me think that Dunne would lament transferring out, but his last two punts weren't bad after he adjusted something on his release.

Plenty of other good (and a few bad) things I'm forgetting, but this team is loaded with talent and it occurred to me that each split squad was probably better than half the teams Oregon would face in 2025.

  4. He has already turned down an upward move to the Cowboys RB coach position. If he really wanted to return to Texas above all other considerations, that would have been the play. Going to UT is a lateral move unless it is paired with a promotion to co-OC and a big salary jump.

This looks like a local writer chucking stuff at the wall and seeing what sticks. Samples has more often been a WR coach than leading the RB room. Will he get offered the Adams position at Oregon? Salary jump + WR Room + co-OC that could turn into OC when Stein inevitably moves on to a HC job. Seems like a smart thing for DL and Mullins to consider if they really want to retain him.

Who would he rather work for, Lanning or Sark? That one seems like a no brainer.

    This...   100%

I dont get the point of bringing him in.

After looking at the timing of this and the lack of any lead-in hype, my bet is that there is real concern inside the program about the status of Austin. Was Canady on a short list of 'commit now and don't wait for the spring portal crapshoot' options for star/nickel as a depth piece for just this eventuality?

For Austin's sake I am really hoping my read on this is wrong but it's the only thing that makes any sense.

  6. Waz was interviewed last week on Autzen Audibles and he commented that the 2025 squad has a bit more talent than in 2024. The incoming 6'9" kid, Reitz, has a flamethrower arm that clocks a 98mph heater, and additions from the prep ranks and portal are all high quality.

He pointed out that the Ducks were one or two at bats and a healthy arm away from finally getting past the super regional to Omaha. In addition to Grinsell and the returning bats, it looks like this team has added the extra juice to get there. Looking forward to watching some games at PK.

OMG!  Almost as bad as the Rosebowl!

Should the Chiefs fire Reid?  Replace Mahomes? Can the OC and DC both?

    The sky is falling!

    Go Green!

So how does a great team (OBD) lose badly to another great team (tOSU) on the big stage? We're watching it in real time in SB LIV. A blown assignment here, bad throw there, coaching miscalculation here, critical penalty there and the snowball just gets rolling down the slope.

And sometimes the football gods just shake the snow globe to see what happens.

  8. Unfortunately tOSU has a couple days jump on OBD as they are in the market for a new WR coach after elevating Hartline to OC. Odd to think that two of the best WR rooms in the country are looking for coaches.

I would imagine that Dallas was looking at Adams at the same time they were talking to Samples about the RB job and that DL was aware. Have to trust DL has prepared and has a name or two in mind.
