Charles,  thank you for being such a terrible sport and sharing those warm, heartfelt and inspiring Trojenz posts. And thanks as well for the money saved by all OBD fans as we get to live rent free in those sunny SoCal heads. "Plenty of room to stretch out in here!"

Getting Harmon while keeping him away from U$C is absolutely priceless.

  2. I was in Jerusalem on November 3, 2012 with a church group and found an Irish sports bar (yep, they've got them and it served Guinness. I bought our pastor a pint 😎) that put the USC-Oregon game on for us. It started at 1am local time.

We watched most of Kenyon Barner's record setting rushing performance and the high scoring seesaw until they kicked us out at 4am. We then hoofed it back to our hotel where we watched the last 5 minutes on someone's laptop. Memorable.

So it doesn't matter what time a game starts for the rabid Duck fan. 9am is just fine by me. I am hoping that there will be fewer 8pm starts, but I imagine we will still get stuck with one when we play USC, UCLA or the Fuskies.

  3. Great coverage on this! It would be special to have another 5☆ JStew in the program.

Am I the only one that looks at that young man next to DL and thinks "wow, that could be Arik Armstead 2.0"?

It has to be a big plus that so many of DL and staff's recruits got significant high quality snaps on Saturday. Several frosh stood out and the improvement in the 2nd year players, particularly on defense, was dramatic. "If you're good enough, you're old enough"

  4. As much as I love the local kid/dual sport storyline for BB, if he is now starting for Waz and is a major contributor, why risk a blown out ACL or separated shoulder as a 2-3rd team LB?

While he may never get to the Show, he'll get at least a long cup of coffee in the Minors if he continues to improve. I'd rather see him going yard in Omaha than playing mop up snaps at Autzen. No one can take away what he has done already and he'll be remembered by Duck fans for quite awhile.

And I do believe that MBB offers full scholarships.

  5. Though not the only reason, look at how much the Lions have improved with Penei at OT. That extra 500 milliseconds of protection means a yard per play in the ground game, more completions and fewer INTs. That's why tackles go in the first round.

Alt and Slater will make great bookends for the LAC O-Line and finally get JH some meaningful protection.

  6. Several good points and observations made here. There seemed to be some consternation about Gabriel and Moore expressed in the comments section of a couple of other sites.

What I saw at the game was that the Dline played well and beat the fragmented Oline enough so that all QBs had to hurry throws a bit. The DBs and LBs had good coverage and there weren't that many open looks. One 'badly overthrown' DG pass early I believe was intentional, as the primary coverage was good and the safety was converging fast. A tighter throw may have been picked.

Novosad made the biggest mistake by throwing at Dickey right into similar coverage, resulting in the Flowers pick. Moore had some nice throws, one uncharacteristically dropped by TFerg that killed a drive. It made Moore look a bit pedestrian even though he had made the right read.

I don't think there are any bad takeaways on the QB play. The difference lies on defense, primarily with the two deep in the first half, where they came to play hard and fast. Interior Dline and Edge did their jobs and put pressure on the offense.

That said, some real nice offensive WR play by Stewart, Tez and Lowe. The RBs were running hard, perhaps a bit too much so with Savage escorted to the locker room after a brutal pop by James. Harris is going to be a part of this offense one way or another. He is a bulldozer once he gets a step. Not going to make a LeGarrette Blount comparison just yet but the combination of size, speed and brute force is something Oregon hasn't had since Royce and JStew.

Add to that a 49yd down the middle FG with plenty to spare. All in all the day didn't have some of the flash of previous spring games, but there sure was a lot to like in all facets of the game from veterans and newcomers alike.

  7. Broncos just drafted Troy Franklin in the early 4th round. They got a steal and the chemistry with Bo is a big plus. Wonder how much input Bo had in this decision when Franklin didn't go in the 2nd or 3rd and was still available.

Glad Denver picked him, I think coaching-wise it was the best place for him.

Now where’s JPJ?? Some center from Duke got picked before him?

That one made me raise both eyebrows. A Dukie better than Rimington winner JPJ? The competition level was certainly tougher in the Pac-12 (RIP).

The only thing that I can see is that maybe Barton is a bit bigger and more versatile having played LT for two years and that the Bucs wanted to be able to move him around. Still, hard to argue that JPJ isn't the best center in the draft.

My bet is he goes early in the 2nd round later today. He also can play at the guard spot but not really suited to be an OT. He has that edge of pure nasty that will make some team very happy, wherever he plays between the tackles.

I would love to see JPJ, TFrank and Dorlus all come off today with Bucky and Tysheem as potential move ups. Still very possible that EvanW goes late rounds and that Oregon will have it's first seven man draft class.

Oh yeah, and to hades with those 'experts' like BoogerMac who call Bo a dink and dunk QB. Like Sean Payton can't recognize the smarts and talent to fit his scheme.

Same bozos that thought JH would get some coach fired (well yep, Lynn got fired, but because LAC needed an upgrade to develop Justin) or that Harbaugh would trade him to move up and take JJMcC in the draft. All graduates of the Bayless-Acho school of clickbait lame sports journalism.

An update on all things Oregon basketball recruiting.

The second big time 'Furd player, Andrej Stojakovic is still in the portal and may want to reunite with Angel. That would be two good wing additions if DA could pull it off.

The really interesting tidbit from the above article is that N'faly may be petitioning for a final year of eligibility based on the Covid year and his injuries the following year.

He is already NBA ready, but another year at Oregon to develop a mid range shot would make him a first rounder. We can all hope. A line up of Shelstad, Evans, Angel, Bittle and Dante, with Cook, Tracey, Barthelemy and maybe Stojakovic in the rotation (and no injuries) is the stuff of Sweet Sixteen dreams.
