Bryan Addison coming into his own during fifth season Bryan Addison's third season at defensive back has allowed him to expand his skillset. Still utilized primarily on passing downs, Addison has proven a tougher overall player this season than in the past. Addison, a fifth-year junior, credits head coach Dan Lanning for getting the most out of him. "I'd say coach Lanning really instilled that [toughness] in me — like you've got to be physical back there on the back-end," Addison said. Dana Altman sees strength in the Pac-12 despite UCLA and USC's expected departures "There's no way to sugarcoat it. It's not good for our league," said Altman. "But we'll survive. We've got ten good teams, and it's our challenge to improve, you know, to get better." As for the league's future and how it'll be able to compete at a high level on a national level, Altman isn't too worried. "But as far as a basketball conference is concerned, since I've been in the league, USC hasn't won the conference title or the tournament. UCLA maybe won one tournament or one league title. Arizona's been up there. We've won four conference titles." ESPN analyst explains why Oregon is their pick to make the College Football Playoff ESPN’s Heather Dinich thinks there are few teams playing better football than the Ducks right now. I ran across this short video while searching for articles for OBDF today and it had me thinking. Is the 12-team playoff format too much? No one really talks about it as it seems to be a done deal. There are interesting points brought out by the commentators: • If you were a play-in team, you would play an additional 4 games to reach the Championship. That is 1/4 of your regular season. In Oregon’s case, counting the Conference Championship, there is potential of a 17-game season! • Is that too much to ask of players, risking injury to their careers? • There is big money involved, should players get some access? • Or should alternatives of 8 or 12-game playoffs be considered? Is It Possible for Ducks to Reach CFB Playoffs?
Pennsylvania Duck replied to Pennsylvania Duck's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Path to the Playoffs - Oregon Edition I wasn’t sure this team really had what it takes to be in this position. But I would argue there’s very few elite teams in college football. Which means if you’re a pretty good team, which Oregon is, you have a chance. Of course a few things will need to go Oregon’s way. For starters we’ll need to re-examine this again when the first real rankings come out on November 1. A week from today.
