If ESPN does provide a reasonable offer it's a short term deal 2 years maybe or there are exit options that are not costly. We all know if Notre Dame stands pat then in two years (estimate) we get to ride this roller coaster again.
Next time it will probably involve the ACC. That is going to get messy!

Normally I would root for Pac-12 teams in their OOC games. This year I want USC to just get pummeled outside the Pac-12. All the other teams I will still root for to win outside the conference. Well with one exception, I'm kind of ambivalent toward Washington this year. Normally I root against Washington as their fans are delusional and insufferable.
Washington gets a one year hiatus from being in the dog house!

I just hope we get to play them in the Championship game and pound the men of Troy into tiny fairy dust as a going away present!

I know if we get invited we are going to the Big 10, no doubt in my mind. But playing the teams in the Big 10 just doesn't excite me. Probably because I live in Texas and can't stand cold so no Bueno!
Much rather see Oregon vs Baylor or Oklahoma State or romp over TCU or Texas Tech. I don't see us being invited to the SEC, although I would love that.
One issue that does worry me is the SEC and Big 10 may just remove themselves from the NCAA and go at alone. They will then probably change the rules i.e. lift scholarship limits and maybe the way money is paid to players etc. in an effort to make themselves the primary league and everyone else will be regulated to secondary players.
Really bad for College football but I don't think anybody is looking out for the game at this point. It makes me sick to my stomach to see what is happening to College football.

No not really rather play Big-12 teams for sure, ACC, or even SEC teams. I am excited to see USC & UCLA play Indiana, Northwestern, Minnesota, and Purdue in November at their house!

It looks like we have 3 Top 100 players so far in this class. Last year just 1 Josh Connerly. I think we will finish with 5 Top 100 players in this class. That maybe slightly conservative but it would still be 4 more than last year. Not bad considering the staff didn't have a full year to recruit this class.

I'm going to take off my green colored glasses and go with two 5 stars including any reclassifications. Then if we get more that just makes it all the more sweeter!

Pretty much love about 99% of the uniforms we come up with including these. It's our genre now to be new and innovative on the field(hopefully), with our uniforms, and our facilities.
High school kids love this about Oregon. It's cool to be a Duck!

It sounds like for now that the Big -10 option is a no go for the Ducks unless Phil Knight can exert some clout or if the Big-12 cannibalizes the southern Pac-12 (Arizona, Arizona state, Utah, & Colorado). If the Big-12 does that maybe the Big-10 would takes us or we become a western pod of the ACC?
I'm talking out my rear at this point.

As mentioned multiple times above if we stay or merge with either the Big 12 or the ACC. TV dollars need to be split based on revenue generated by the school. Sorry but giving Oregon State or Colorado the same cut as the Ducks is not acceptable in this marketplace.
Over time sure they can improve their split but you have to prove it first. That is the only way this makes sense.
If we are going to make decisions based off money then we need to make all decisions that way.

Some many options! I'm still of the mind that going to the Big 10 is the best choice but being part of the Big 12 maybe reality. I don't think forming some kind of alliance with the ACC is doable in the long term, because the SEC is going to come calling for Miami and Florida State, and maybe others. A $50 million buyout is a big number but not when you are earning $80-$100 million a year by joining the SEC.
My concern is if we end up in some kind of restructured Big-12 / PAC -12, what is our payout for the foreseeable future maybe $50 million per year max? We can absorb the payout differential in the short term but when teams in the Big 10 and SEC are getting an additional $500 million over 10 years that's hard to compete with.
Don't know if the short sighted Oregon legislature will let Oregon go to the Big-10. Another hurdle to get over.
This is making my brain hurt!

If California makes UCLA stay I would be concerned that the Oregon state legislature might make Oregon stay also thinking that this could somehow save the conference and keep Oregon and Oregon State together.
That is a scary thought to me as we won't be able to compete with the new Big 10 or SEC as far as revenue goes and that will filter down into recruiting. Hope I'm wrong on that one.
If California signs off on UCLA going then my thinking is even the Oregon state legislature can see the writing on the wall and will let Oregon go.
Again hoping the legislature won't get involved but they have a tendency to stick their nose where it doesn't belong.

All about the money. Fox and ESPN are pulling the strings here behind the scenes like a puppet master. Unfortunately we are all caught up in it now like a giant whirlpool. Going to be interesting to see how this all plays out.
IMO, this is just the beginning. The SEC hasn't made it's move yet and the ACC is cowering over on the east coast hoping nobody notices them.
The Big-12 is looking at the scraps of the Pac-12 thinking there are a few tasty morsels they would like to get a hold of.
I don't know what the rest of the Pac-12 is thinking right now outside of Oregon & Washington. Are they checking in with the Big-12? Frantically calling the Big-10? reaching out to the Mountain West?Lastly where does Amazon fit into all this do they jump in here and try to make a play??
So many questions, my brain is spinning..

Exactly CalBear95! Totally agree. The big jewel is Notre Dame so they are focused there first. Once that is secured that allows them to bring in Oregon and Washington and one other or if no Notre Dame 4 others but I think the magic number is 20 total.
Those teams from the Pac-12 will be probably be a package. Big10 probably already knows which teams it will bring in under each scenario but needs the Notre Dame decision before moving on any other team.

Don't agree Fred flintstone. I highly doubt they take Stanford on their own they don't bring in any additional revenue, minimal eyeballs. Even as a rival to Notre Dame, they already have USC they don't need Stanford. If Notre Dame wants to continue playing Stanford it's an easy nonconference game. Academics are an issue but it's not THE ISSUE. This all about the money.

I do feel sorry for all the other Pac-12 teams. So Cal schools really put them in a bad spot. I'm not sure UCLA gets out of this quite so easy though. Evidently there are some laws in California that apply to public universities so we will see.
When we previously played UCLA I always wanted to beat them but I didn't have any malice toward them like the Spoiled Children. Now when we play them I hope we kick the crap (hope that word is allowed) out of them!!
Hopping on the bandwagon, drinking an IPA feel like I've been punched in the gut about 10 times with all this stuff.

Oregon is not in big trouble. Notre Dame is the biggest jewel out there but the next biggest is Oregon. We will bring in revenue to the Big 10 or whichever conference we end up in unlike some others that could be added.
The Big 10 would be the best fit for us but we could adjust to life in the SEC if we had to (I think I just threw up in my mouth a little bit).
A revamped PAC-12 which would include the Big12 is really a no go option as that will limit the payout to each team to probably 1/2 of what the Big 10 is getting. That is not going to get us top recruits or get us to the National Championship. If you are looking for just a nice football game on a Saturday afternoon then ok it's fine. But that is not what most of us want. We want to compete for the National Championship and in order to do that we need to be a part of a conference where the payout is top $$.

All True, but Dante isn' t making that decision tomorrow and by the time he does the dust will probably be settled and we will know a lot more about where we will be. If we are in the Big 10 that is probably even more enticing to him.
I think most of the high end recruits will probably hold off committing until this thing settles down a bit.

On board with you David. If ND says yes then its a green light for Oregon, Washington, and probably Stanford.
if ND says no then it's Oregon & Washington for sure and possibly two others to get to 20. There is no way that they only take Stanford. From an eyeballs standpoint that makes no sense.

I can't express how heavy my heart feels. Each of these kids are a precious soul. Maybe it's because I'm older and I was fortunate enough to live through my stupid youthful mistakes.
I didn't know you Spencer but I feel like I knew you. You are an Oregon Duck. Peace be with you brother.
