  1. The No. 8 Oregon Ducks (5-1, 2-1 Big Ten) head east for a Saturday matchup against the Rutgers Scarlet Knights (3-3, 0-3 Big Ten) this week. The Ducks are looking to bounce back after losing to Indiana 30-20 at home in Eugene. Last week’s loss was just the seventh under head coach Dan Lanning and the second at home since 2022. Oregon’s offense put up a season-low 267 total yards and ran for just 81 yards. The defense played a respectable game and did enough to keep the Ducks in that game. Rutgers on the other hand is back at home after a West Coast road trip of their own to Seattle, where the Scarlet Knights fell 38-19 to the Washington Huskies. The schedule doesn’t get much easier for them this weekend with a matchup against the Ducks. They’ll also face Ohio State, Maryland and Penn State this season after hosting Oregon on Saturday. The Ducks are the current betting favorites at -17 on BetMGM. This weekend’s game will be the first ever meeting between Oregon and Rutgers after the Ducks joined the Big Ten last season. 7. That means the most important game for the Ducks is their Week 8 road test against the Rutgers Scarlet Knights, who are losers of three straight after beginning the season with three straight victories. Despite the string of losses, all coming in Big Ten play, there's still talent on the roster. The offense in particular has shown signs of explosiveness, as they're averaging 35.6 points per game. The defense has been a rough spot — but there's several standouts who have the ability to turn a game on their own. Let's check out five Scarlet Knights that Duck fans should know as Oregon heads across the country in search of their sixth win of 2025. Five Rutgers Scarlet Knights who Oregon Duck fans should know before Week 8 There are going to be a lot of things for the Ducks to clean up and improve upon after last week, but a game against the 3-3 Scarlet Knights will offer the chance to build some confidence before a tough stretch of games in the month of November. After what we saw last week, there are a lot of questions to be answered. What will we see from this Oregon team on Saturday, and in particular, what kind of challenge will Rutgers present? Let's dive in. What should the Oregon Ducks expect from Rutgers Scarlet Knights offense?

  17. DSC Inside Read: 3-2-1 look back at Indiana and ahead to RutgersFor the first time this season, Oregon didn’t look like the better team. Indiana came into Autzen and exposed the Ducks’ weaknesses — protection issues, inconsistent execution, and an inability to finish drives — handing Oregon a 30-20 loss that felt as frustrating as it was revealing. The defeat snapped Oregon’s home winning streak and raised real questions about how quickly this team can correct its mistakes with another Big Ten matchup waiting on the road. Now the Ducks turn their attention to Rutgers, a 3-3 team that scores over 35 points a game and moves the ball through the air better than anyone Oregon has faced outside of Penn State. The Scarlet Knights aren’t elite on paper, but they’re disciplined, balanced, and comfortable in long drives — the exact kind of opponent that punishes mental lapses. For Oregon, Saturday in Piscataway is less about talent and more about response. 20. The betting odds reflect this as Oregon is currently favored by minus-15 1/2 points and has its moneyline odds set at minus-670 according to FanDuel Sportsbook. The point total for the game is set at a whopping 58 1/2, with bettors likely expecting a high scoring output from the Ducks. Oregon was covering the spread easily earlier in the season, but have had some closer calls than expected lately. They will look to get back to their dominant winning ways this week against Rutgers and fight for another trip to the playoffs. Oregon Ducks open as two-score favorites over Rutgers Scarlet Knights
