7 major takeaways from Oregon Ducks' 26-14 win over Washington Huskies It's not hard to imagine the scene behind those closed doors. After going to battle down a handful of starting players on offense once again, Oregon didn't waver and was able to control the game against Washington for four full quarters, ultimately landing the kill shot with a 64-yard touchdown from Malik Benson on a critical 3rd and 9 midway through the fourth quarter, which stretched the Ducks' lead from five to 12 points. Now, the Ducks can look forward to a week off, a chance to get healthy, and a wait as they let the College Football Playoff chips fall around them. Before we get to the coming weeks, though, let's dive in and enjoy this win over Washington. Here are some of our biggest takeaways from the game:

Projecting the College Football Playoff top 12 after Week 14 5. Oregon Ducks (11-1)Why they could be here: The Ducks could get a small promotion this week if the committee drops the Aggies after their loss to Texas on Friday night. Oregon earned a respectable win at Washington, and has impressed the committee with its top-five ranking in offensive and defensive efficiency. Even if the committee keeps the Aggies above Oregon, the Ducks should be in a position to host a first-round home game as one of the committee's highest-ranked one-loss teams on Selection Day. Why they could be lower: With Texas A&M joining the pack of one-loss teams, it's possible the committee still believes the Aggies are better than Oregon, an opinion it has indicated for the past four weeks. How much does a loss to Texas change that perception? The Aggies' road win against Notre Dame is better than Oregon's best victory, which was at home against USC. Need to know: It's possible that by Selection Day, Oregon's only loss is to the Big Ten champs. It's one small factor that could help the committee distinguish the one-loss teams. Oregon's loss to Indiana would likely be viewed as better than Texas Tech's defeat (Arizona State) and Texas A&M's (Texas), but both were on the road, while the Ducks lost to IU at home. Up next: Oregon will await the Selection Day results.

Atticus Sappington wins Ducks Wire Player of the Game vs. Washington It’s normally tough to think of someone who stood out during such a messy game, but it was surprisingly easy this time. Kicker Atticus Sappington will take home Ducks Wire Player of the Game honors for the second time this season after an inspired performance today. He was called on four times to extend Oregon’s lead and he delivered each time. One could argue that he was the biggest part of the Ducks’ offense today with all of his contributions, but especially his career-long 51-yard field goal that put the Ducks up by 12 points at the time.

Oregon vs. Washington instant recap: score from Ducks vs. Huskies The Huskies managed to make the game dicey in the fourth quarter, but the Ducks had at least a little bit of control over this game since kickoff. They raced out to a 13-point lead and never looked back. Washington never got the game closer than six points after that and now the Ducks will roll back into Oregon with a home playoff game on the horizon.

Oregon - Washington Pre-Game Reports, Interviews, Etc.
Oregon vs. Washington Series History: 118th matchup on Saturday In just their second year in the Big Ten, the Oregon Ducks haven't had many games in 2025 in which the words "hatred" or "bitter" could be used to describe the matchup. Sure, the in-state rival Oregon State Beaverscame to Autzen Stadium in Week 4, but the state of their program (2-9 heading into their season-finale) is less than inspiring and the Ducks were heavy favorites anyways.
