Lee Corso to Retire After Week One
Scott Van Pelt reflects on Lee Corso’s legacy with heartfelt tribute After a long-running career as a staple of the show, Corso will make his final appearance at the start of the 2025 season. It will feature his final headgear pick after serving as a staple of the college football season for decades. During his Thursday night “SportsCenter” show, SVP took the chance to honor the former head coach and popular host for his iconic headgear segment that was revered by fans far and wide. According to Van Pelt, Corso’s headgear segment was one of the last moments truly made for live television in the growing era of streaming and DVR capabilities. “For nearly 30 years, no matter where you were in the fall, if you loved college football, you had one duty. Not an obligation, but a place you had to be just before noon eastern: in front of your TV to see who is Lee going to pick,” explained Van Pelt. “If you think about it, in this time of DVRs, that moment became the last thing you truly had to see live as it happened, because it’s magic. It’s electric. And watching it later would have been — I don’t know — cheating, somehow. “It was coach, the man who gracefully aged into becoming everyone’s dad, then grandpa, and beloved friend. You wanted him to pick your team, of course. But, somehow, it was even more fun when he reeled you in and then went heel.” Here is SVP’s full tribute with the rest of the college football world weighing in recently on the decision: Scott Van Pelt reflects on Lee Corso's legacy with heartfelt tribute SATURDAYTRADITION.COM ESPN's Scott Van Pelt reflected on the legacy of Lee Corso through his signature SVP style on SportsCenter.

Latest Intel From Another Big Visit Weekend, Oregon Spring Game This Week On the latest episode of the Ducks Dish Podcast, ScoopDuck’s Max Torres and Justin Hopkins dive into the latest Oregon recruiting intel from another big visit weekend in Eugene. Some of the top recruits discussed include 4-star cornerback Davon Benjamin, 4-star safety Jireh Edwards, 4-star safety Jett Washington and 5-star offensive tackle Jackson Cantwell. Benjamin has been arguably Oregon’s top defensive back target in the 2026 recruiting class for well over a year. He returned to Eugene for an important visit as the Ducks battle USC for one of the best in Southern California. The Ducks have always been high on Benjamin’s list, but he doesn’t look like he’s anywhere near making a commitment. Edwards has been another top priority in the secondary despite being all the way on the other side of the country in Baltimore. It seems like he’s gaining some more clarity in his recruitment and Oregon will have a seat at the table all the way until that recruitment wraps up. Washington is another recruit that’s taking his time. It was his first trip to Eugene since the Ohio State game in the fall and Oregon appears to be separating themselves from the pack and near the top with one other school. Chris Hampton was one of the best recruiters in the country last cycle and he plans to sign another elite haul in 2026. Cantwell returns to Eugene this weekend for his official visit with the Ducks. This is significant because he had previously made it sound like he was finished taking trips and was strictly in decision mode. Oregon is battling Georgia and Miami as On3’s No. 1 player in the country looks for his new home. Will the Missouri connection with head coach Dan Lanning push Oregon over the top? We’ll have to wait and see. Watch this episode on the ScoopDuck YouTube channel PODCAST: Latest Intel From a Big Oregon Recruiting Weekend WWW.ON3.COM Dan Lanning and Oregon hosted another big recruiting weekend ahead of their annual spring football game in Eugene.

Five-Star Offensive Tackle Target Jackson Cantwell Reschedules Oregon Visit Date, Sets Commitment Date Oregon has now gotten back-to-back positive news updates with regards to one of its most important recruiting targets. Five-star offensive tackle Jackson Cantwell was seemingly headed towards a potential commitment. And with that news it didn’t bode well for Oregon. The Ducks have not had Cantwell on campus in a number of months, which is a lifetime in today’s recruiting calendar. However the Nixa (Mo.) standout quickly moved up his official visit to Oregon originally to the weekend of April 18. Per On3’s Steve Wiltfong it has now been moved to the weekend of April 25, which is of course the weekend of Oregon’s Spring game. (April 26) This is a huge positive development for Oregon. Not only will that be a high-profile weekend, it will give Oregon to show Cantwell its team and the energy from the Spring game.
