  2. We might not have had a top-five matchup or a major upset take place on Saturday, but it was another exciting week of college football. As we plunge toward November, we're starting to see things unfold. We're seeing the character of teams in the top 10. We're seeing some other teams make magical runs that they hope can end with a trip to the College Football Playoff. So, let's dig into my latest top 10! 1. Oregon (Last week: 1) Record: 8-0 Week 9 result: Defeated Illinois, 38-9 Oregon is getting better and better every single week. Shame on me for underestimating how difficult it was going to be to get the transfer quarterback to play great right away. When I spoke with Dan Lanning over the summer, he told me Bo Nix had some of the difficulties that Dillon Gabriel had after he transferred to Oregon. He said that Nix really wasn't effective until late in his first year and going into his second season in Eugene. So, you can understand why it might have been a little messy for Gabriel at the start of his tenure, despite his previous success. This team looks more balanced, and it can beat you in a lot of ways. The Ducks' defense is quick, their offense can run the football, Gabriel can throw the football down the field, and they have speed for days. Oregon has proven it's the best team in college football, and we might just be seeing the possibilities of what could be coming. 2024 college football rankings: Joel Klatt's top 10 teams after Week 9 WWW.FOXSPORTS.COM Ohio State didn't look overly impressive in its win against Nebraska, while Penn State picked up a gritty win at Wisconsin...

Wyatt revealed why he chose Dan Lanning and Oregon over USC. "It's just (coach) Dan (Lanning) and (defensive coordinator) Tosh (Lupoi) and the entire community up there and what they're building," Wyatt said. "It shows they're doing something right because they're No. 1 in the country." Coming from Michigan State and growing up in Detroit he knows the program all too well. And he didn’t mince his feelings on what he thinks of the Wolverines. Oregon is coming off of a commanding 38-9 win over Illinois, while Michigan narrowly defeated Michigan State 24-17 in a rivalry matchup. 9. What Michigan Wolverines Quarterback Davis Warren Said About Oregon Ducks: 'Bring 'Em On' The Oregon Ducks face Michigan on Saturday, and Wolverines quarterback Davis Warren was asked about hosting the No. 1 team in the 'The Big House.' The Michigan starter said he's excited to have the Ducks in Ann Arbor after beating Michigan State. "Definitely excited. Good. We like that. Bring 'em on, bring the No. 1 team in here. I know we can handle it. We're more than capable of taking these guys on. I just think it's a really exciting opportunity for us. 10. The Ducks are plowing through most of their Big Ten opponents and look like the clear-cut best team in the league There are hallmarks of great teams that aren't difficult to notice. First of all, if you ever stand next to them on the field, it's hard not to notice how different the elite teams look physically. I remember being on the field before the College Football Playoff National Championship between Alabama and Georgia at Lucas Oil Stadium and being amazed by the players I saw on both teams. Compared to what I had seen at other games, everybody in uniform on that field (OK, everybody aside from Bryce Young) looked like they were from a different planet. But while body types, speed, athleticism and strength are all key components of great teams, there's another intangible aspect that I think sometimes separates certain teams when they reach the top. There's a ruthlessness that's evident. There are no games off, quarters off or even plays. Some teams show up determined to grind you into dust from the opening kick to the final whistle. It's a ruthlessness I see in Oregon right now. Saturday will mark the sixth all-time meeting between Oregon and Michigan, and first since 2007. The Wolverines lead the all-time series, 3-2, but the Ducks have won the last two matchups with a 31-27 win over No. 3 Michigan at home in 2003 and a 39-7 win in Ann Arbor in 2007.
