  1. There are times when I am a bit disappointed when they pull Bo out so early when he is having a stellar game. Just want him to pad his stats for the Heisman. But I certainly understand protecting him from injury. I keep pulling for Thompson but he is still inconsistent and error prone. Worry some! That is very concerning going into the final 2-4 games. I really believe the Ducks have another chance to win it all. If Bo stays healthy. I watched the Washington -OSU game and it was another lucky win by the Huskies. Michael Penix looked terrible. No more excuses. He is immensely talented but looked average against OSU. I heard a commentator say it was all drops that failed him. Not true. He threw numerous bad passes some not remotely close. I think his completion percentage was 46% and his total passing yards were really low 162. Total yards 272. OSU QB gave Washington this win in my opinion. No doubt the Ducks will play them in the PAC-12 Championship. I just hope this re-match does not include any ridiculous forth down calls that contributed to the Ducks losing to the Huskies 2 times in a row. And finally pulling for Camden Lewis to to contribute to Oregon CRUSHING the Huskies in the PAC -12 championship game. Oregon is a much better team. Congrats to brilliant Coach Lanning for his contract extension. We are blessed to have this coaching staff! Go Ducks!
  2. Great read and I to think offensive play calling yesterday and against Washington was uncreative and poorly conceived. Did you watch the ASU vs Washington game last night? The 1-6 Sundevil’s forced 4 turnovers and held the Huskies to 288 yards of total offense. We all believed that this years ASU team would be strong on offense and weak on D. The opposite appears to be true. Hopefully Tosh watched or will watch that game and learn. I think Oregons defense took a step back against WSU.
  3. Another great read Charles. After the last two games I am very optimistic and becoming a believer in Oregon D. Husky QB Penix is huge threat as we all know and loves the short quick passes. From what I have seen those passes have the most successful against Oregon but our tackling proficiency is much improved which locked down both Colorado and Stanford for much of the game.. Washington’s performance last week against Arizona revealed a defensive scheme that limited Penix success and it also showed that the Husky Defense can be exploited. I hope that Lupoi attacks Penix like the did Sanders for Colorado. But we all know that Washington has a strong O line. I believe that Oregon could have and should beat the Huskies last year. Going for it on 4 down and failing along with a poor defense cost Oregon the win. But Lanning takes risk most other coaches would never take. It’s who he is. I trust Lanning and hope he is at Oregon for a long, long time. Go Ducks!
  4. Another great informative read that made me think more about what we are seeing. We all learn from every post you write. As a big critic of Tosh Lupoi and the Oregon defense, I will clearly state that I have never seen a more over powering defensive performance by Oregon D for 2 quarters ever. I loved the pressure, the blitz barrage and the total dominance. Coach Lanning has received allot of undeserved criticism for his pregame speech. I loved it. The players loved it. Duck fans loved it. The country except “Colorado” loved it. Big spike in recruiting and crystal ball predictions including the last top uncommitted Running Back out of Washington is pointing towards Oregon. It’s awesome to see Oregon continue to pull them out of the Huskies backyard. thanks Charles.
  5. I agree. The offensive line play was not even average. 3 points in the 3rd quarter, 0 points in the third and a win garnered by 2 interceptions. 113 total rushing yards. I believe it was 53 less than Tech. But I also see this as a season long problem. For those that don’t think Colorado and every other team now won’t run an aggressive defense attacking the O line in every game, you going to be disappointed. While the O line for years has been the Duck strength it is now considered one of their their weaknesses along with D. After watching that game my frustration grew on both sides of the ball and it appears that Lanning does not believe in firing assistants that are not getting the job done. So we hope they miraculously get better on their own. So after the Hawaii game it’s anyone guess. I personally believe that Colorado has better assistant coaches, is better on offense, defense and special teams. Where do you fans see a weakness in Colorado football? I would not call them great but considering the transition from last year they are very good. I do not believe Oregon with Tosh coaching the “D”, mediocre special teams play and now an O line everyone will target Oregon can beat Colorado. I would love to be wrong.
  6. I am a big fan of you, the site, your analysis and opinions. Having said that I totally disagree with your view that this is Dan Lanning’s defense. As we all know Dan Lanning came from Georgia working as DC for the brilliant Defensive mind Kirby Smart. I would agree that Georgia teams run Kirby’s defense and no matter who is hired there as DC the defense will always be solid, aggressive and successful. In Oregons case I believe this is the Tosh defense or what ever this mess is. Did they stop Portland State from scoring again? Yes! Is that something to brag about or what should have been expected. After game 1 the ducks defense is ranked near the bottom is sacks, tackles for loss and I think the third category was rushing yards allowed at #96. The pistol has been around for decades, during its time sacks by the defense against the pistol are not a rarity. The Portland state football team is made of by majority unranked players, ranked 129th in 2023 and 135th in 2022. I believe sacks can and do occur in less that 2.5 seconds. A good defense would have stopped the first drive, stopped the run been able to penetrate the defensive line often and had both Sacks and Tackles for loss. Next up Texas Tech which took a big hit in game 1 losing to unranked Wyoming. But my prediction this weekend is Oregons unreliable defensive scheme will make both 2nd string QB Tyler Shough look great and allow allot of points and yards. Allowing Tosh Lupoi to keep his job after that embarrassing circus last year in my mind is inexcusable. I railed for years against Earnie Kent and Robert Johnson asking for their dismissal before to much damage was done. In both cases I received nasty insulting comments but in the end serious damage was done especially to track and field. In my opinion great recruiting is wasted if the coaching and game plans, play calling are just atrocious. I don’t worry about our Offense but have absolutely no confidence in Tosh or Oregon’s D. I believe this will be another season of Oregon having to outscore the opponent to win. Sadly talent is deep and overflowing. Looks at Oregon States AWESOME defense made up of Walton’s, and mostly 2 and 3 stars. Head coach is an offensive specialist so that great defense’s success is all due to GREAT COACHING……….. As far as fans speaking out after that embarrassing early drive down the field to score, it was once again as we all experienced week after week after week last year it was another episode of the “Tosh Comedy Hour”. He is not, not will he ever be a good defensive coordinator. Do you remember how Mark Helfrich was branded a genius and one of the most creative minds in football? How did that turn out! He, in two short years destroyed Oregon football and recruiting and was a complete failure in every coaching job afterward. Mark was riding the brilliant Chip Kelly’s coattail getting credit he never deserved and all of us were understandable fooled. But in this case with TOSH it’s a year plus of glaring red flags week after week and all of us should heed these warnings or accept mediocrity. thanks again for all you do! Steve.
  7. Wow I love your optimism and have faith in Coach Lanning. And I agree with your opinions on transfer portal additions on depth and what may be our toughest game. OSU will be a challenge not only for the reasons you stated but they are also a very good football team with possibly the best QB they have ever had and I believe the best Head coach they have ever had. But I cannot get past out biggest weakness last year. Our defense. Our defense didn’t lack talent last year. Yes we had injuries but it had several 5 stars and many 4 star players. But our defense and special teams were really bad last year. And in my opinion the main weakness our defense had remains with the team. Tosh Lupoi. When I read your great synopsis, ,it reads as if our defensive coordinator was Dan Lanning, Lupoi is not mentioned. I wish that were the case. And I am aware that Lanning hired defensive help and I believe made him co defensive coordinator but to me that’s putting a bandaid on a major wound. So I am so hopeful that your correct. I would absolutely love to be wrong about Lupoi but he has to earn respect and he has not come close. So appreciate all that you do, fantastic read. We do have the players to make it happen.
  8. I am a big believer in Ty Thompson but he has really struggled when they put him in. Any thoughts on why?
