crazyjeff No. 1 Share Posted July 29, 2023 The Pac-12 needs a culture shift WWW.COUGCENTER.COM The Pac-12 is an athletics conference, not an academic conference. Good read from the Cougar Center. "The presidents and chancellors deserve plenty of blame, too. Ultimately, they’re the ones in charge, approving Kliavkoff’s decisions and setting the pathways. The problem is, they need to get off the path they’ve been going down for years on end. The good news is they now have no other choice." I don't think the presidents and chancellors would agree. I have no confidence in them.
lownslowav8r No. 2 Share Posted July 30, 2023 Well that has long been a debate. Ultimately these are universities, not sports teams. Oregon (the university) would survive without sports, though sports does add to the college experience. "Fit’" in this context does include academics. If you want a true sports conference then push for the football and basketball teams separating from the universities and running the clubs as purely business. Of course, that would likely fail since we already have these organizations. They are called the NFL for football, and the NBA in basketball. Good luck competing against them.
