Win totals released for all Big Ten teams in 2024 college football season

We are getting closer and closer to the start of spring football across the nation, and in about a month, teams will be strapping up their helmets and getting prepared for various spring games, giving fans an early look at their newly constructed rosters.

Though the transfer portal is still open in certain spots, and the coaching carousel continues to churn for a handful of programs, we are starting to get a better sense of where the power lies going into the 2024 season as rosters are taking shape. This has allowed us to make our way-too-early predictions, such as a top 25 ranking, record projections for the Big Ten Conference, and bowl projections for the Oregon Ducks’ new conference foes.

It’s also allowed Las Vegas sportsbooks to make their annual win total projections, predicting how many games each team in the Power 4 conferences will win next season.

The Big Ten is expected to be spearheaded by teams like Oregon, Ohio State, Michigan, and Penn State. Here’s how FanDuel Sportsbook projects their seasons to play out in 2024:

What should Oregon fans expect as Dillon Gabriel takes over for Bo Nix?

So for the Ducks going forward, how will the transition be going from Nix to incoming Oklahoma transfer Dillon Gabriel? The veteran has had a lot of success in his five years of college football, but will he be able to meet the high expectations of Oregon fans who have been spoiled with the most accurate QB in college history over the last two years?

That’s a question that I asked Dan Rubenstein, the co-host of the Solid Verbal Podcast this week on the latest episode of the Sco-ing Long Podcast.

With Dillon Gabriel taking over for Bo Nix at Oregon, here’s what the Solid Verbal’s Dan Rubenstein thinks Duck fans should expect in 2024.

Thanks for the post but ...

Raiola has yet to throw a CFB pass. TN's Nico in the beat down of Iowa threw for 151 yards. Moore is in Eugene to back up DG and learn the position. An AZ B12 QB is going to win the Heisman? I think Rising could have a better shot. Are there odds on any of these guys?

The B12 guy with a chance is perhaps OK St RB Gordan. I think it will be Beck, Milroe, Ewers, Jaxson Dart from the SEC. Gabriel, or the best B1G QB. Howard playing at tOSU has a shot.

A true frosh or RS Frosh will not win the Heisman.

How quickly will the Oregon Ducks find success in the Big Ten?

The entire landscape of college football will look different in 2024, with new teams in different conferences and an expanded College Football Playoff at the end of the year. For the Oregon Ducks, a move to the Big Ten Conference will have us enthralled as we try to figure out where they stand among their new foes, and how quickly they will be able to find success in the new landscape.

This past week on the Sco-ing Long Podcast, I had the pleasure of talking to Dan Rubenstein, a well-respected football voice who is the co-host of the Solid Verbal College Football podcast. Though Rubenstein is an Oregon alum, he watches the sport through a national scope, and he is well-equipped to inform unsuspecting Duck fans of what they should expect in the new conference.

Ducks among top teams in the nation according to ESPN's 2024 SP+

The offseason is often spent with various outlets putting out their preseason rankings based on movement across the sport and new-look rosters entering spring football. Different metrics are used, from eye test to returning production to FPI.

One of the most well-respected metrics, though, is ESPN’s SP+, which is a rating system that combines several factors: Returning Production, Recent Recruiting, and Recent History.

Here is how ESPN’s Bill Connelly explains it:
