The dual carburetor linkage on my 1100c '67 Opel Kadett Rallye was held together like that for 6 years... Bubblegum, rubber band, ball point pen spring, a piece of bailing wire. Ran like a top, averaged 44 mpg, and couldn't beat a laboring VW Microbus up the hill at Jump-off Joe Creek, on I-5, with an 80 mph head start.
