Creighton Coach Says 'Sea of Blue' Will be Supporting Ducks on Thursday

Recommended Posts

Creighton head coach Greg McDermott told reporters on Wednesday that the Creighton faithful in Pittsburgh will be supporting former Bluejay coach Dana Altman and his Oregon Ducks on Thursday.

The more than 2,500 miles between Eugene and the site of Oregon's first NCAA Tournament game may make it difficult for fans to support them on Thursday.

By the sound of it the 11th-seeded Ducks will receive some assistance from another fanbase competing in Pittsburgh this weekend — at least during the opening round game with sixth-seeded South Carolina.

"I know Oregon is going to have a sea of blue cheering for them on Thursday afternoon because of the way Dana is respected in our community," Creighton head coach Greg McDermoot said on Wednesday morning.

FWIW and somewhat OT, the B1G went 3-0 in last night's NIT action. The Gophers, Badgers, and Buckeyes all won their 1st round games.

Ohio State has won NCAA titles and Wisconsin and Minnesota have featured many quality basketball teams. Not one of the three believed the NIT to be beneath them.
