"I have to say something because I think it’s just necessary at this point,” Grant told reporters. “When we have people that make [the game] about themselves and attack kids because of their own agenda, it sickens me.” Study: One-Third of High-Profile NCAA Athletes Threatened By Gamblers WWW.SI.COM A high-tech review of social media treatment of college athletes found grim trends. 1
DanLduck No. 2 Share Posted May 20 I find this report very disturbing. With the huge increase in online gambling opportunities, access to everyone via social media, and all the NIL, this could easily become serious, even life threatening. I shouldn't be surprised, but how do you go about defending against it? Every athelete have armed security? Schools employ online sleuths to weed out jerks? Maybe it's making a mountain out of a mole hill...pro sports and gambling have been around for a long time. Let's hope it doesn't amount to much. I think the diff now is that social media gives the creeps access to the athletes that the creeps never had before, and NIL makes creeps feel entitled to that access.
