Dr. Roger J. Thompson Jr., EdD, is leaving his post, most recently as Vice President for Student Services and Enrollment Management.

That means it was his signature that was on the line for every student and student athlete admitted to Oregon.

As you can imagine, there were probably more than a few times coaches were in his ear lobbying for certain athletes to be admitted.

Roger always had a keen eye for students in general and student athletes who may not have always had the highest test scores or GPAs but would be good ambassadors for the Oregon brand.

He didn’t always bat 1,000, but I think he put up triple hall of fame numbers.

Here’s hoping his replacement is just as dedicated to Oregon and Oregon sports as Roger was.

For decades, this former University of Oregon senior leader has bolstered student enrollment at several institutions. Now he’s bringing that expertise to Moraga, as well as an impeccable...

Early in his tenure, he used his "Bama experience" to assist Oregon with the logistics for the BCS game.  Hopefully his last recruited team of student athletes can get back to the Championship game and finish the job this time.

And congrats to Dr. Thompson, who is now President Thompson. A well deserved promotion which should bring him right into a nice retirement.

Thank you for all you did, much of it invisible, but much appreciated!

Or, hopefully back to Oregon as Prez if the timing works out.
