Charles Fischer Administrator No. 1 Share Posted July 19 EUGENE, Ore. – A total of 15 current and past Oregon track and field standouts will compete at the 2024 Olympics beginning next week in Paris. The group is representing nine countries and includes the UO trio of Shana Grebo, Klaudia Kazimierska and Jaida Ross that competed for the Ducks this past season. The Opening Ceremony of the 2024 Paris Olympics will take place Friday, July 26, with the track and field schedule beginning Thursday, August 1. There are seven returning UO Olympians from Tokyo including 4x100 silver medalist Jenna Prandini and 1500-meter finalists Cole Hocker and Jessica Hull. Prandini and Claire Michel, competing in the triathlon for Belgium, become the second and third Oregon women to be appear at three Olympics; Lisa (Martin) Ondieki competed in the marathon at the 1984, 1988 and 1992 Games. The list of Ducks making their first Olympic appearances including Grebo, Kazimierska, Ross, Susan Ejore, Alaysha Johnson, Kyree King, Kemba Nelson and Alessia Zarbo. Along with Hocker, Hull, Michel and Prandini, the returners list also features Emmanuel Ihemeje, Aneta Konieczek and Jorinde Van Klinken. Ihemeje was a finalist in the triple jump in 2021. Van Klinken is set to compete in both the shot put and discus. The official entry lists for all participating countries were published July 12 by World Athletics. 2024 Paris Olympians Susan Ejore (KEN) – 1500 meters Shana Grebo (FRA) – 400m hurdles Cole Hocker (USA) – 1500 meters Jessica Hull (AUS) – 1500 meters Emmanuel Ihemeje Jr. (ITA) - triple jump Alaysha Johnson (USA) – 100m hurdles Klaudia Kazimierska (POL) – 1500 meters Aneta Konieczek (POL) - steeplechase Kyree King (USA) – 4x100m relay Claire Michel (BEL) - triathlon Kemba Nelson (JAM) - 4x100m relay Jenna Prandini (USA) - 4x100m relay Jaida Ross (USA) – shot put Jorinde Van Klinken (NED) – shot put, discus Alessia Zarbo (FRA) - 10,000 meters The list of Ducks includes those who are currently student-athletes at Oregon, graduated from Oregon or turned pro during their Oregon careers. Drake Moderator No. 2 Share Posted July 19 Jessica Hull recently set the women’s World record in the 2,000 meters in Monaco. She won the race by over 6 seconds. I watched a replay, and it was obvious she had that as her goal from the very start.
