David Marsh No. 1 Share Posted July 24 About a month ago I wrote an article about the proposed changes to roster sizes in football and what looked like an overall cut. A cut that would have effected walk ons in particular. Link below... Football Roster Reductions Would be a Mistake | FishDuck FISHDUCK.COM One proposed rule change coming up for college football is reducing the team rosters down to 85-95, but... DanLduck No. 2 Share Posted July 24 If a season is to be 17 games, potentially, then more depth in players would be a good thing. Maybe it's also just recognizing that most teams carry that many players but do so with walk-ons. This way those kids could get scholarships and not hope for NIL to cover costs. Nomenclature is changing. The word “scholarship” no longer means the same thing if “walk-ons” are going to school for free and being compensated.
