Who would be your candidate to be as Oregon's guest picker?

Ten Candidates to be the GameDay Guest Picker

Here are ten potential candidates for the honor.

Phil Knight — Feels like a no-brainer. I think he has to be the favorite early on. With Phil getting up there in age this might be one of his last chances at making an appearance.

Sabrina Ionescu — Her playoff schedule becomes the issue here. Otherwise I think she’d be the top choice.

Ty Burrell — Obvious connection to the school and well-known actor. Have to think his schedule should allow for an appearance if asked.

Justin Herbert — Obvious choice here but again, will his schedule allow? Ironically, Herbert plays against the next candidate in Denver that weekend.

Bo Nix — Just read what I said for Herbert.

Kayvon Thibodeaux — The Giants host Cincinnati next weekend.

Marcus Mariota — Washington plays at Baltimore next weekend. He’s not the starter so he might have more availability.

Tinker Hatfield — Maybe Phil declines but pushes for Tinker to do it.

Payton Pritchard — The Oregon native returns for Gameday. That would be an all-time moment for him I’m sure. Schedule should allow him to make the trip if asked.

Cole Hocker — Amazing Olympian but I would wager not many outside of the Oregon world would really know who he is.

I am hoping for someone who hasn’t been on Gameday before. In addition to the names above, what about:

Dan Fouts: Legenday Duck, NFL QB and broadcaster

Ahmad Rashad: See above but WR/RB

Neil Everett: Former ESPN SportsCenter anchor, who loves the Ducks

Cole Hocker: 2024 Olympic gold medalist in the 1,500

CJ Vardell: A troll for our Ohio State visitors after rushing for 161 and 2 TDs on 20 carries (8.0 yards per carry), plus 34 yards receiving and another TD at the Shoe

Sam Elliott: Academy award-nominated actor with iconic voice, attended U of O from 1962-63 (only if he wears a cowboy hat)

So many great Ducks to choose from!

Top guest picker candidates for 'College GameDay' between No. 3 Oregon and No. 2 Ohio State

So who will it be this weekend in Eugene? We went down the list of notable celebrity Duck fans, and famous Oregon alumni. Of course, there are a lot of great former players who could be options, but because of their current sports schedules, they likely won’t be picked. Those pickers are as follows:

  • Boston Celtics guard Payton Pritchard
  • New York Liberty guard Sabrina Ionescu
  • Denver Broncos QB Bo Nix
  • Los Angeles Chargers QB Justin Herbert
  • Washington Commanders QB Marcus Mariota
  • New York Giants EDGE Kayvon Thibodeaux

With those options out of the running because of likely scheduling conflicts, here are the top candidates we put together, in no particular order:

I'm sure they will, and I'd say something, but Charles's software wouldn't allow it

The show’s host, Rece Davis, said that Corso has been sick for the past few weeks, according to Zachary Neel of Ducks Wire.

“He’s not going to be here this week. He’s doing better. He’s been a little bit under the weather for the last couple of weeks,” Davis said, per Neel. “I talked to him earlier and he said he was sorry he is missing his best friend, The Duck.”
