No Surprise, B1G or otherwise. IMO, ESPN will extend the 12/1/25 date when the parties have to agree to a new PO format to 1/23/26.

I think there is a good chance that we will see the PO expand to 16 teams and possibly more next season. If the NCAA managed the PO, there would already be a 16-team or more PO field.

https://sports.yahoo.com/college-football/breaking-news/article/espn-college-football-playoff-finalizing-agreement-to-extend-new-playoff-format-deadline-to-jan-23-202658379.html

The PO committee is making it up as it goes along. Dropping Alabama with four wins over committee-ranked SEC teams from fourth to tenth shook up the Dixie powers that be.

And what sense does it make for the ACC and B12 to reject a format that assures two teams in the PO field with a chance for additional at-large teams?

When the B1G and the SEC were granted superior PO format voting power, the ACC and B12 acknowledged that CFB has a Power 2.

Even Stewart Mandel of The Athletic, who has continually excorciated the proposed AQ B1G PO format, now believes a PO with AQs will not destroy the sport.

Projecting the College Football Playoff top 12 after Week 14

5. Oregon Ducks (11-1)
i?img=%2Fphoto%2F2025%2F1130%2Fr1582547_

Why they could be here: The Ducks could get a small promotion this week if the committee drops the Aggies after their loss to Texas on Friday night. Oregon earned a respectable win at Washington, and has impressed the committee with its top-five ranking in offensive and defensive efficiency. Even if the committee keeps the Aggies above Oregon, the Ducks should be in a position to host a first-round home game as one of the committee's highest-ranked one-loss teams on Selection Day.

Why they could be lower: With Texas A&M joining the pack of one-loss teams, it's possible the committee still believes the Aggies are better than Oregon, an opinion it has indicated for the past four weeks. How much does a loss to Texas change that perception? The Aggies' road win against Notre Dame is better than Oregon's best victory, which was at home against USC.

Need to know: It's possible that by Selection Day, Oregon's only loss is to the Big Ten champs. It's one small factor that could help the committee distinguish the one-loss teams. Oregon's loss to Indiana would likely be viewed as better than Texas Tech's defeat (Arizona State) and Texas A&M's (Texas), but both were on the road, while the Ducks lost to IU at home.

Up next: Oregon will await the Selection Day results.

Oregon Ducks' Biggest Advantage in College Football Playoff Revealed

The Oregon Ducks are the No. 5 ranked team in the College Football Playoff and will host the No. 12 James Madison Dukes at Autzen Stadium in the first round. Will last year's playoff disappointment end up helping coach Dan Lanning and the Ducks?

PicKell on Oregon Heading Into Playoff: “They’re Hungry”

PicKell is high on the Ducks heading into to the playoff this season.

“Look at Oregon’s draw. I think it’s fair to make the case they have the most workable path in the College Football Playoff…If it’s about psychology, are you really betting against Dan Lanning? I wouldn’t,” PicKell said. “I think there is arguably nobody better in college football when it comes to being an elite communicator in getting their team ready to rock and roll.”

The Bucket List: What's it going to cost to follow Oregon through the CFP?

So the minute the bracket came out, you thought about pulling up the travel website and your go-to ticket broker to find out what it would set you back to live the College Football Playoff dream with the Oregon Ducks.

A trip to three of college football's iconic venues (Autzen Stadium, Mercedes Benz Stadium, Hard Rock Stadium) to see premier college football programs pursuing the national championship is a fan experience like nothing else. It's a particularly tempting prospect this year because the Ducks have the draw and the talent to make a deep run, beginning with a home game against James Madison, Saturday December 20 at Autzen, 4:30 p.m. PT. It's televised on TNT, TruTV and HBO Max if you decide to stay at home.

It's the trip of a lifetime, but also a daunting challenge, because it involves three cross-country road trips if Oregon stays alive, to the Orange Bowl in Miami, the Peach Bowl in Atlanta, and the National Championship Game at Hard Rock Stadium on January 19, again in Miami.

GREAT POST!

For once, the NCAA is not at fault. The NCAA has nothing to do with the FBS postseason. The college football playoffs conducted by the NCAA do not include Now You See It, Now You Don't rankings teasers.

For some inexplicable reason, the Domers fracked up; they trusted the Committee. 🤪

It's all good for the Irish. Next season, ND opens vs. Wisconsin in Green Bay, followed by a home helping of Rice.

The Irish play one 2025-26 PO team in 2026. Along with Ohio State at Texas, LSU at Ole Miss, don't miss Miami's trip to ND on 10/7/26. The next most 'difficult' game on the Domer's 2026 schedule, the finale vs SC in LA, which could (and I hope will) be the last game in the series.

They're crying in South Bent, but close by, they are not shedding tears and likely sharing laughs at NCAA HQ in Indianapolis. 😁

There are no restrictions on incoming coaches in their roles with teams participating in the playoff.

No.

The coaching merrigoround has to be a distraction for both teams. I suspect that JMU losing its head coach to UCLA and having a failed coach from Florida coming in will create more turmoil than OBD losing its successful coordinators and them being replaced from within. Loupoi and Stein will be working with the same staffs that they know well. Everybody already knows the drill. Napier will be working with strangers who are probably not likely pay a lot of attention to him. Even so, I'm guessing he will be more of a minus than a plus.

Seriously?

Oregon's Dan Lanning Shockingly Snubbed From Coaching Award

The Oregon Ducks are 11-1 and headed to the College Football Playoff for the second straight season. Despite this, Oregon coach Dan Lanning was not named as one of the 12 finalists for the Eddie Robinson Coach of the Year Award.

The 12 finalists for the 2025 Eddie Robinson Coach of the Year Award are:

Bob Chesney, James Madison Dukes
Curt Cignetti, Indiana Hoosiers
Ryan Day, Ohio State Buckeyes
Mike Elko, Texas A&M Aggies
Tony Elliot, Virginia Cavaliers
Marcus Freeman, Notre Dame Fighting Irish
Clark Lea, Vanderbilt Commodores
Jerry Mack, Kennesaw State Owls
Joey McGuire, Texas Tech Red Raiders
Jim Mora, UConn Huskies
Jon Sumrall, Tulane Green Wave
Kirby Smart, Georgia Bulldogs

Does Lanning deserve to be on this list? Taking into account the amount of players he’s had to replace on both sides of the ball and Oregon having won 11 games, there is certainly a strong argument.
