cartm25 No. 3 Share Posted Tuesday at 10:26 PM (edited) Some info in this article surprised me. I thought Dan Lanning had Stein on his secret "I know more than anyone else" OC candidates list. Not sure what I'd prefer: - Dan Lanning having a ready made list of pre-scouted candidates that no one else knows about, OR - Him being able to have a few hours long conversation with someone he didn't know before, but can determine they'll be great. Knowing Lanning, he can, and does, both. Edited Tuesday at 10:41 PM by cartm25

Knowing Lanning, he can, and does, both. At some point that pre-scouted list is going to run out so it makes sense for him to be an excellent evaluator of coaching talent as well as on field talent. I'm glad he's pretty good at it!
OregonDucks No. 5 Share Posted 17 hours ago The article is behind a paywall so I couldn't read it but I remember Coach Lanning saying that he had a short list of coaches. I'm sure that he continues to update it based on what he sees and hears. Never a bad idea, given the constant staff turnovers at the best programs.
