Big Impact to Oregon: JC Transfers Granted an Extra Year of Eligibility

Recommended Posts

This week the NCAA Board of Directors granted a waiver to permit student athletes who attended a junior college for one or more years, eligibility to compete in 2025-2026.

However, this waiver only applies to student athletes who would have otherwise used their final season of competition during the 2024-2025 academic year.

Duck players impacted are starting safety Kobe Savage, starting defensive tackle Jamaree Caldwell, offensive tackle Georgia Silva and cornerback Sione Laulea. This will not only impact those players who may return, but also who Oregon targets in the Portal and/or saves room for.

Those first two defenders listed could be a B1G impact if they return next year. Effectively we would have safety covered between Savage and the Purdue Safety transfer. The departure hit on the defensive line would be highly softened by the return of Caldwell.

When asked about it, Lanning offered nothing. Just that they have not addressed it yet, and probably won't until after the Rose Bowl.
