The reality is that DeBoer got a few incredibly good key pieces from the portal, in particular Penix. But he also made massive use of the 5th and 6th year players on his roster. The 2020 Covid shirt played a big role in Washington's success under DeBoer. It also played a major role in Michigan getting their National Championship.

Washington was riding high on talent brought in by CHRIS PETERSEN! That seems crazy because it feels like he has been gone for forever but the reality is that DeBoer's success was built on a backbone of Petersen recruits.

Meh. I get it, as it is tough as a writer finding topics at this time. That was pretty good clickbait that has some truth--dependent upon how you view it.

My take?  Fisch performed a MIRACLE at Arizona, as they were so bad for so long and he was actually able to recruit great players there.  He coached them up to be in the top 15 in the nation in a short time.

He is a great coach who will be trouble for us in the future, no doubt.

In the meantime...

"Light years ahead" is a bit much, all things considered they did pretty well last season. When their freshman QB was upright, he looked pretty god against the Ducks. Next year could be another of those Measuring Stick games when Washington and Oregon meet in Seattle.
