30Duck Moderator No. 1 Share Posted Saturday at 02:13 PM Purdue is 0-2 on the road, Oregon's 2 losses have been at home. Two Boilermakers are included in ESPN's "Top 50" 27. Trey Kaufman-Renn, Purdue Boilermakers No player in the country had bigger shoes to fill than Kaufman-Renn, who took over for Zach Edey, the first two-time Wooden Award winner in 40 years. Though Kaufman-Renn isn't Edey, he has been an elite post presence for the Boilermakers. On his first three possessions in Sunday's win over Nebraska, Kaufman-Renn scored on a floater in the lane, a jump shot and a putback off his own missed shot. He has made 62% of his shots inside the arc this season while averaging 17.5 points and 6.2 rebounds. -- Medcalf and 6. Braden Smith, Purdue Boilermakers For the past two seasons, Smith had the luxury of playing with Zach Edey, a two-time Wooden Award winner. The absence of a player in that realm tends to affect point guards more than anyone else because it disrupts the high-low game a team can implement when they have a dominant force in the paint. Yet, Smith is even better this season without Edey. The Boilermakers entered the week on a five-game winning streak, a stretch during which Smith produced 57 assists. (Yes, 57.) Trey Kaufman-Renn has been a breakthrough star with Smith's help; Fletcher Loyer has made 49% of his 3-point attempts. All of it comes in a scheme that's led by Smith, who looks like the country's best pure point guard. -- Medcalf How to watch Oregon Ducks vs. Purdue Boilermakers men's basketball game AUTZENZOO.COM The Oregon men's basketball team is back in action as the No. 13 Ducks host the No. 17 Purdue Boilermakers at Matthew Knight...

Sandy Rocks No. 5 Share Posted Saturday at 08:59 PM What a phenomenal game, like a playoff game. The ducks are playing great defense and the turnovers need to be reduced and the offensive boards that Purdue has scored on and the ducks will prevail. The ducks have the depth, like Luke Jackson is saying, and it can be a real factor in the second half. Also Shelstad has only six points. He is a second half player. Dave23 No. 6 Share Posted Saturday at 09:00 PM Ducks up 31 to 30 at the half, need to get some more rebound and this game is theirs.
Sandy Rocks No. 7 Share Posted Saturday at 09:04 PM They may go up three because one basket by Bittle was waved away and Luke Jackson seem to think they will give it back. We'll see. I love this team they are so good, everyone is playing their top game. Bamba has had some great defensive plays. He still has difficulty finishing on his shots, he really needs to work on that. Watch for Shelstad in the second half, he's going to take over.
Dave23 No. 8 Share Posted Saturday at 09:11 PM If Bamba starts scoring like he's capable of this team will be really hard to stop.
Dave23 No. 9 Share Posted Saturday at 09:30 PM I really don't like it when they just sit outside and huck up 3s with very little ball movement. Just get the back down low to Bittle then when the double comes pass it b to Evens for the easy bucket.
spartan2785 No. 10 Share Posted Saturday at 09:45 PM (edited) Frustrating, the shooting is simply atrocious, Bamba is completely broken, he's becoming a liability on offense, he has no confidence, if I was an opponent I would dare him to shoot. Refs are completely biased 5 foul difference right now in the half, they have to even that up a bit, ridiculous. commentary is right, have to feed Bittle in the post Edited Saturday at 09:46 PM by spartan2785
spartan2785 No. 11 Share Posted Saturday at 09:59 PM (edited) We really are not doing a good job at home, we simply are a horrible shooting team from 3 and yet we love to jack them up. BAD LOSS I don't care if Purdue is good, you can't keep losing home game, simply can't. Edited Saturday at 09:59 PM by spartan2785
GeotechDuck No. 12 Share Posted Saturday at 10:06 PM (edited) Serious question. At what point do you just sit Bamba down? He’s not doing anything well right now. Can’t score, turning it over, not boxing out, etc. Did anyone else notice that Purdue just left him in the second half and was dropping an extra player into the paint? He has wide open several times, and Purdue didn’t even attempt to close out on him because he is not a threat to score. Essentially, Oregon was playing 4 on 5 in the second half on the offensive side when he was in the game. 2-8. One was a dunk, so essentially 1-7 shooting, 4 turns, and gave up some offensive put backs. Edited Saturday at 10:06 PM by GeotechDuck
JabbaNoBargain No. 13 Share Posted Saturday at 10:11 PM (edited) Can’t have a starting guard be this irrelevant on offense in 2025. This entire game was bad offensively, but big picture, have to have 2 good starting guards to do anything meaningful. spartan2785 No. 14 Share Posted Saturday at 10:19 PM He's basically Soares who was probably the worst starting guard Oregon has had in the last 20 years, he's horrible, he can't even score at the hole now. I wouldn't mind seeing Tracey at the 2 and Evans at the 3, try that. You can't keep running him out there and watch him basically be useless on offense. GeotechDuck No. 15 Share Posted Saturday at 10:25 PM Agree. I would start Shel, Key, Tracey, Evans, and Bittle. I would have S. Cook fist off the bench in the post and start giving some more minutes to Phillips to see if he has some upside.
30Duck Author Moderator No. 16 Share Posted Saturday at 10:25 PM It happens again, poor shooting, 36%, 5 offensive rebounds. Purdue actually shot worse, 34% but had 12 offensive rebounds. 17 fouls on Purdue, 23 on Oregon. Two Flagrant 1's on the Ducks.

Soares wasn’t the best guard Oregon has had, but he also didn’t hurt you by shooting 25% while jacking up 8-15 shots a game. Soares’s last year at Oregon, he shot 10%+ better from the floor and 10%+ better from the line, averaged less turnovers, and had more assists per game than Bamba. HDuck No. 18 Share Posted Saturday at 11:03 PM Ducks were 7 of 29 on 3's. 4 of 18 in second half, though some late attempts were to try to catch up. Altman post-game was not happy about the number of 3 attempts the team was jacking up. Altman: "Bamba 5 turnovers, TJ had 4, we just never gave ourself an opportunity. Really poor offensive possessions." Altman harping on second-chance points and 16 turnovers. "You can't turn it over 16 times. We fell in love with the 3 (7 of 29), didn't execute." On a different note, the game was a sell-out which unfortunately is not frequent. I believe the Ducks are 13-3 at sell-outs since MKA opened in January 2011. But, 16 sellouts in 15 seasons...ugh. The really bad shooting, jacking up 3's is very poor offensive possessions, offensive possessions do fall on the point guard. Oregon's lack of offensive rebounds is a large part, lack of effort, turnovers also are a lack of focus. Wins cover up a lot of problems.
Sandy Rocks No. 20 Share Posted yesterday at 01:05 AM Bamba had a good game but he is really off on his shots. They did start Tracy today probably because of that. They were playing so well again until they weren't. The first half was like a playoff game. Shelshad didn't do as well, they need him to score and it changes everything for all the others. It just seems to raise their confidence level. Yes they lost because they weren't getting the offensive rebounds. The ducks are tall and physical, they should be getting those rebounds. They are vital to stopping an opponent. I couldn't fault them at all for the first half but the shooting in the second half just didn't cut it. Evans always seems to play well and has earned a starting position. I agree start Key and Evans. Angel is good but he hasn't been shooting very much. I feel he always wants to be perfect and when he can't, he doesn't want to try as much.

The Kamikaze Kid Moderator No. 22 Share Posted yesterday at 05:02 AM The Ducks had 31 points at halftime. They had 33 with 11:53 left in the second half. They had 41 with 5:35 left. Eleven points in nearly fifteen minutes won't get it done. Way too many unforced turnovers and missed uncontested shots. On the other hand, the defense was pretty good and kept them in the game when the offense went AWOL. They let this one get away but the team is showing more potential than many others have recently.
