30Duck Moderator No. 1 Share Posted January 20 "I just think the regular season and winning a conference championship matter". Fine, except Oregon went undefeated in the regular season, beating Ohio State and Michigan, won the B1G championship. Ohio State's regular season, losses to Oregon and Michigan, didn't matter at all. Think they care? Penn State lost the CCG to Oregon and was rewarded with a much easier path in the Playoffs, tripped anyway. Now the championship game will be a match-up of a team that didn't qualify for its conference championship and a team that doesn't have a conference.

GatOrlando No. 4 Share Posted January 21 There's big money invested in those championship games. They matter as much as the format allows it . Maybe you give the winners a double bye or a second round home game. I don't know, maybe it'll all sort out over time. I grew up looking forward to the championship Saturday. Florida had to beat Arkansas in 2006 and Alabama in 2008 to get into the BCS Championship game. That 2008 game vs Alabama was a great game.
Charles Fischer Administrator No. 5 Share Posted January 21 Anytime you have a Playoff or Tournament....all you gotta do is make it in. Then catch fire, as Ohio State and the Washington Commanders have shown. Doesn't matter how many losses you have in the regular season if you make the Playoff, and peak then. Ohio State was in such shambles after the Michigan game, but... 1 Mr. FishDuck

The fanatics put them in shambles after losing to Michigan. In the clear light of Day, the loss didn't hurt them at all.
