30Duck Moderator No. 2 Share Posted January 23 “That was the loudest stadium I've ever played in,” Howard said. “I played at Texas, Oklahoma….No question, Oregon, 65 thousand that was…I don’t know if they were pumping in crowd noise.” I was prepared to give Howard credit, but "pumping in crowd noise" Jeez. cartm25 No. 3 Share Posted January 23 Autzen is always pumping in crowd noise . . . with noise from the crowd.
Just Ducky No. 4 Share Posted January 23 (edited) Most games I’ve been to my throat was sore after the game from yelling so loud. The other games were over by halftime and we were out in the parking lot tailgating. Dennis Dixon and Mariota days lol. spartan2785 No. 6 Share Posted January 23 He's not saying we were pumping in crowd noise, he's just saying it was so loud it felt like Oregon was pumping in crowd noise, give him some credit, that's what I took from it.

Agree. To me he was saying that it was so loud it was unbelievable (¿How could it be that loud without pumping in noise? - yet it was.) Maybe someone in the B1G will start believing that Autzen noise can actually affect the play on the field. I think the coaches are starting to think about it. woundedknees No. 8 Share Posted January 23 All I know, is I have been in Autzen when it WAS dead quiet... In the beatdowns of the 70's. I also attended games like the MeatChicken barbecue when Clemens lead Oregon to victory, and couldn't carry o a normal conversation for hours. Myears rang for a couple days. I'm have no doubt being a regular attendee of Oregon has contributed to my tinnitus and need for hearing aids (Which I never wear to a Duck Football game, anywhere!) spartan2785 No. 10 Share Posted January 23 Autzen is special for those special games. It used to be special for basically every game (thinking early 2000s), but now it seems like it's more reserved for the truly big games. Most of the major B1G teams have now experienced Autzen (Michigan, Mich. St, Nebraska, tOSU, Wiscy). Only really need Penn St. to come out here to believe it. The rest of the league probably won't experience it at it's best since most of them are scrub teams (Rutgers, Northwestern, Indiana, Minnesota). They probably won't see Autzen at its best. Indiana could be a big game where they experience a raucous (for Autzen) environment. 1
