Grandpa Duck No. 4 Share Posted Saturday at 06:28 AM The defense was very good. Graves uses his bench liberally, so that players can go hard, and then rest. During the second half there were several steals that led to layups. Definitely a year where the best offensive strategy is a good defense. probably the worst officiated game at college level I have seen.
Sandy Rocks No. 5 Share Posted Saturday at 06:48 AM It really was a tale of two halves. They consistently play good defense but in the first half they couldn't buy a bucket. They would make a good defensive stand then get down to their basket and make a bad shot, travel, or some other turnover. It was frustrating. In the second half everything changed. The back-up center Ehis Etute got hot, she really provided a spark. They rode that train to the end. An exciting finish. They kept themselves in the game and in the end found a way to win, a lot like how the duck men play really.
30Duck Moderator No. 6 Share Posted Saturday at 04:43 PM Five days after holding Iowa under 50 points in a dramatic come-from-behind victory Sunday, the Oregon women's basketball team followed a similar script Friday to beat Indiana, 54-47. The Ducks held both teams below 38 percent shooting to give themselves a chance to come from behind, doing so Friday with a decisive 10-0 run with less than four minutes left in the game. "This is incredible," UO coach Kelly Graves said. "Two great offensive teams, and to hold both of them under 50 is really getting it done. It's been our strength. It carried us, and our defense kept us in the game." "I believe we wanted the ball more," Etute said. "That's what it comes down to at the end, who wants it more. … In the end, that was just us."
