"This Team is Going to Have to Figure it Out"

Says Altman. I assume he means he's no longer able to contribute, it's all on the team now.

One of the things I like best about Dana is that he’s willing to treat his players like adults - whether they are or not. Scolding and sending them to their bedrooms without supper like Cronin is just not his style. Wait and see.

I agree with this not being Altman's style, which I appreciate. But waiting for this team to take the annual "Altman Leap" might not work this time. Watching their games has turned into the definition of insanity.

Sounds a lot like the Ga Dawgs season this year. After a deep run in the NIT last year and infusion of some great new talent, the Dawgs entered the SEC gauntlet with but one loss, to #6 Marquette. They then proceeded to beat two ranked teams and themselves become ranked,  and then had a week where they lost to the previous week's number 1 team Tennessee and a 2-point lo to that current week's #1 Auburn. That  dropped them out of the top 25. They then suffered a terrible loss on the road at Arkansas and went 1-2 against the next three teams, two of whom were nationally ranked.

Coach Mike White is still optimistic and the SEC is so stacked this year that an 8-10 team in the league will probably get into the dance. Yet it is becoming increasingly hard for me to be optimistic in my young Dawgs' chances in that I believe that 7 of the Dawgs' 9,remaining SEC games are against ranked opponents. I feel like 30 Duck in that watching the team make the same mistakes over and over and expecting different results indeed does feel insane. Selah.

I've said it before. I'll say it again. Dana Altman is one of the top basketball coaches in the country.  The only reason he's not already in the hall of fame is because the guys that have done what he has done coached at powerhouses. He's been at Creighton and Oregon.

The guys on the floor aren't doing it like he's coached them. That's why he says it's up to them to figure it out.  He ALWAYS takes responsibility for losses, saying the team wasn't coached good enough. He never throws his players under the bus, a la Cronin.  Although, FUCLA is currently tearing it up, so what do I know?

I do feel like Altman has been let down by his players for a few years.  Although, he did choose them.

Frank Kepnang's presence is sorely missed I believe and would have made a difference. I'd gladly trade Evans and Cook to get Frank back.

When the Ducks were beating the likes of Alabama and A&M, people were commenting that Shelstead was far past Prichard at their common states of development.  I disagreed with that then and I strongly disagree now.   I don't believe Shelstead will EVER be the winner and leader that Pritchard is.  Shelstead is Richardson with more energy.  I don't foresee the Ducks having much success until he's gone, unfortunately.

I'm kinda hoping they got Jeff Bassa to lead the players only meeting the other day as I don't see anyone on the basketball team that could have done it. They don't have a leader.  Maybe that's the problem.
