30Duck Moderator No. 1 Share Posted February 5 He's the Duck that wore 30. Of all the problems we're seeing with the 2024/25 team, toughness, leadership are what's missing. That was not the case with the Kamikaze Kids. He started on a team that went 6-20, that didn't happen again. I wish that everybody here could have experienced a game at Mac Court, "The Pit". You think Autzen gets loud? A library compared to "The Pit". You've heard of the scoreboard shaking overhead, the baskets moving, you would almost get seasick. Opposing coaches hated playing there. not just because of the noise. Up until Harter arrived, taking a charge, diving for a loose ball, making players pay for getting too close to the rim didn't happen, UCLA was the pace setter, and their style was finesse. Wooden hated Mac Court, but Bill Walton loved it. 1 3
Steven A Moderator No. 2 Share Posted February 5 First game the scoreboard shook was v Cal 2/8/69. They brought in earthquake inspectors before the next game to make sure Mac could take it.

Wooden hated Mac Court, but Bill Walton loved it. In a previous life, in 1973, I was at Mac Court to shoot photos of the Ducks vs UCLA and, in a stroke of luck, was able to snap a photo of all 5 Ducks on the floor going for a loose ball - Ronnie Lee, Billy Ingram, Mark Barwig, Gerald Willett and Doug Little. All of them sprawled on the floor with Bill Walton lying on his back in the foreground. That photo, which is on display at Matt Knight Arena as a mural, epitomizes what the Kamikaze Kids were all about. What an exciting era to be a Duck fan. 1 1 1
woundedknees No. 10 Share Posted February 6 Ronnie Lee used to cruise Eugene on sunny days, in a white convertible with a red interior... Of course the top was down. Lee was a premiere torture tester for the early Nike Basketball Sneakers.
