The Athletic Predicts B1G Friday Night Football Games.

Week 8 - 10/ 17/25 - OBD at Rutgers -

Week 7 - OBD vs Indiana/ Rutgers at UW.  A far-go for both teams.

Week 13 - 11/17/25 - USC at OBD

Week 12 - OBD vs. Minnesota/ USC vs. Iowa

I know OBD and Rob are still the new kids on the block but Rob may want to respectfully inquire why Michigan does not have to play on Friday night.

Dee-Fence!

It's Josh Neel, so corrections have to be made.

Wisconsin's Luke Fickell did not sign up for a long extension.'

As is typical for all head coaches at Wisconsin, Fickell was extended for one season.

UCLA's Carlos Schweisenger, a former walk-on has left the Bruins building and is projected to go in the 3rd round of the 2025 NFL draft.

The Illinois D should be in the top 5 and not ranked 11th. 18 of the 22 starters in 2024 return for Illinois in 2025. In the bowl game vs. South Carolina, with all hands on deck for both teams, Illinois shut down a prolific Gamecocks offense.

Michigan No. 8? Yes, the Wolverines lose a lot of D talent to the NFL but Michigan has a Blue Chip roster, and as shown in the bowl game vs. Bama, there are many talented players ready to step up in 2025.

No. 6 Minnesota lost its quality DC to Miami. Will his replacement keep the Gophers D playing at a high level?

OBD no. 3 and Penn State No. 4? I hope so but the Oregon D was missing in action vs. Penn State and Ohio State in the last two games of 2024-25 and the Nits stepped up with NIL money to keep draft-eligible D players in Happy Valley.

Indiana, 2nd? Come On Man. The Hoosiers again play against thin-air OOC but play Oregon, Iowa, and Penn State on the road, and a ranked Illinois team in Bloomington.

Ohio State No. 1? Perhaps, but many of the guys who played D for the champion Buckeyes are headed to the League and DC Jim Knowles is 'going home' to Penn State.

So, for what it's worth?

Trojans in a Tail Spin. 😁

Oh, the irony! SC was the first to jump the Pac-12 ship with the UCLA Bruins soon following suit. Which two B1G coaches have whined about B1G travel? Hint, not Dana Altman, Danny Sprinkle, or the women basketball coaches.

The Trojans have now dropped 6 of 7 games. Their Big Ten Tournament hopes are in a perilous situation.

New B1G men's CBB Coaches at Indiana, Iowa, and Minnesota. All three hires get an A- from On3.

Check out the way-too-early grades for every high-major coaching hire in college basketball during the 2025 offseason.

Here's more on the new hires from Yahoo.

SPORTS.YAHOO.COM

Indiana, Iowa, and Minnesota make new hires plus rumors on Maryland and UCLA potential openings?

These hires, a coach from Drake, Colorado State, and the West Virginia coach one season removed from the G5, along with Sean Miller from Xavier to Texas, further evidence the rise of the Power conferences and former Tournament Cinderellas losing their glass slippers. (West Virginia is a Power 4 program, of course, but how often does the job at Blue Blood Indiana come up?)

The deniers believe an all-Power 4 Tournament Sweet 16 in 2024-25 is an outlier. I disagree. Follow the conference consolidation, a/k/a follow the money. Including the money available for coach's salaries, NIL, and direct payment to players if the House settlement is approved.

The Drakes and Colorado States will find it difficult to come up with $20M in direct payments, and the successful Power 4 NIL consortiums are not going away.

Speaking of going away. Why do Power 4 football and basketball need the NCAA? The NCAA has nothing to do with the football post-season and if the G6 is on the decline in basketball, why not a P4 plus Big East (the BE is rumored to be joining the ACC for basketball) and G6 champs tournament (85 total teams) with a geographically sound field of 36 teams.

San Francisco would not host a regional made up of Florida, Maryland, Arkansas, and Texas Tech. 1st round games could be played on campus.

The rule book would be streamlined, and uniformly and timely enforced.
