Posted March 29Mar 29 Administrator The problem with our pitchers having a collective bad day, is that we have a double-header today, and can't wash it out overnight... ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 4-1 Ducks after one inning. Ohio State batters are hitting Collin Clarke much better than I thought they would, and now there is more than enough tape on Clarke to scout him well. But the "Pride of Springfield," Maddox Molony blasted a three-run homer to give Oregon a surprising opening cushion. Mr. FishDuck
March 29Mar 29 Author Administrator 4-4 after two innings. Buckeye batters are not fooled by Clarke, and are hammering him. He gave up a two-run homer, as his stuff does not look fast or tricky today. Mr. FishDuck
March 29Mar 29 Moderator Good thing we’ve got a strong staff. Other than right now, Buckeyes don’t look like much of a measuring stick. Not to look ahead, but interested in our match-up with Iowa, not to mention the Bruins and mutts.
March 29Mar 29 Author Administrator 7-4 Ducks after three innings on a Anson Aroz three-run dinger over the right field fence! Mr. FishDuck
March 29Mar 29 Author Administrator My mistake: it is 7-5 Ducks after three innings. I cannot believe they brought Clarke back in, and the Buckeye batters are just killing him. They finally pulled him after no outs and bases loaded! Oregon brought out our best reliever in the "Pride of Sherwood," Ian Umlandt, but I thought he would be our mid-week starter? Then I realized that the game at Portland is on Wednesday, thus four days rest after today. Umlandt limited the damage to one run...thus the 7-5 score. Mr. FishDuck
March 29Mar 29 Author Administrator 7-6 Ducks after four innings. Geez...the Ohio State batters got a bead on our pitching, as they are even hitting Umlandt well. I would not be surprised if another Oregon pitcher is brought in immediately since we are so deep with pitchers. Find someone who can stop the bleeding! Mr. FishDuck
March 29Mar 29 Author Administrator 9-6 Ducks after five innings. Coach Waz did bring Umlandt back, and although he gave up hits--he got a scoreless inning. Meanwhile, Maddox Molony is having an incredible game at the plate with a second home run, and five RBIs! Mr. FishDuck
March 29Mar 29 Author Administrator 9-6 Ducks after six innings, as Oregon calls on Santiago Garcia who puts the Buckeyes down 1-2-3! Santiago Garcia Mr. FishDuck
March 29Mar 29 Author Administrator 10-8 Ducks after seven innings, as the Buckeyes did not get a hit, but scored two runs on wild pitches by both Garcia and Jason Reitz who is in there in relief. So frustrating...and this game is getting dicey as both squads search for a pitcher who can stop the other team. Nice to see Jacob Walsh hitting homers again... Mr. FishDuck
March 29Mar 29 Author Administrator 11-10 Ohio State after eight innings. Oregon went to its closer, Cole Stokes, and even he was throwing wild pitches and getting hit. Not good... Mr. FishDuck
March 29Mar 29 Author Administrator Ohio State wins 11-10...a pretty bad loss on our pitchers. Mr. FishDuck
March 29Mar 29 Tuned in occasionally. Every time I did, I couldn't keep it on because our pitching looked so atrocious. This against a team that has 6 wins. Make that 7 after spanking OBD.

March 29Mar 29 Duck pitchers gave up: 11 runs (10 earned) 12 hits, 5 walks, 2 doubles, 1 triple, 1 home run, 6 wild pitches, 4 hit batters along with 3 errors. And this to a last place Buckeye team. These guys aren't getting anywhere near Omaha. Approximately 153 days until football, 225 days until basketball.
March 29Mar 29 Author Administrator Funny how we only hear from some people when we lose… Mr. FishDuck
