Penn State started the season behind a B1G 8-Ball losing its first 8 conference games before turning its season around and winning the B1G Postseason Playoff and then defeating Maine and UConn to make the Frozen Four. Saturday - Big Ten Network - Noon Eastern, 9 AM Pacific - Ohio State Spring Showcase. On the Big Ten Network yesterday, Ohio State coach Ryan Day noted that this spring has seen the most contact since he arrived at Ohio State. The players are fired up about the opening game Cotton Bowl rematch vs, Texas. There will be a 'game' and not just a skills showcase as the TOSU D goes against the O. Know Thine Enemy! Greg Sankey - "Gentlemen, we have an ice hockey gap!" The Denver Pioneers have 10 titles, the most in Men's College Hockey. Like Penn State, this is Western Michigan's first Frozen Four appearance. This does not make the folks in Ann Arbor, Michigan happy. This is the Wolverines first Frozen 4 miss in the last five seasons. Men's Ice Hockey is the only NCAA postseason event that uses metrics only to choose and seed the field. 64 teams play Men's Ice Hockey, 16 make the NCAA Tourney.
