Thomallister1291 No. 1 Share Posted yesterday at 03:31 PM Listen, I know that I'm probably not gonna get good looks for it, but I genuinely think this series shouldn't be played, even tho it was scheduled in a time where it seemed like a decent matchup. Today's news regarding the fact the Big Ten and SEC have more control than the Big 12 and ACC (especially in the future) really proves how bad this matchup is, imo, we won't gain anything from playing Baylor aside from a win on our 2027 and 2028 records and crossing an opponent from our "unplayed opponents" list, imo, the game should actually get replaced by a matchup against a much stronger team like Alabama or Notre Dame. There's also something I found out... A few days ago, Scott Barnes, Oregon State's AD, says the Civil War game will most likely take a two year hiatus in 2026 and 2027 but could return in 2028, there's a catch tho, our OOC schedule is completely full that year, with NDSU, Baylor and Utah State in the schedule, so it means at least one game from the schedule will get the boot if the rumors are true. Steven A Moderator No. 2 Share Posted yesterday at 06:32 PM I think Baylor is a quality opponent. They have big $$$ and they aren't afraid to use it. Plus, a game in the state of Texas helps recruiting there. 'Bama is in transition and is like Forrest's box of chocolate. 1
Jon Joseph Moderator No. 3 Share Posted yesterday at 06:37 PM The 2027 schedule is simply brutal. OBD has but six home games, and is on the road at Michigan, Nebraska, Maryland, UCLA, UW, and plays Baylor in Waco. Oh, and OBD plays Ohio State, Penn State, and Iowa in Autzen. The one 'let-up' B1G home game is vs. Purdue. Whether or not OBD plays Oregon State is, IMO, irrelevant. A win over a G6 team will not resonate, and a loss would be injurious. However, a buyout of the Baylor H+H series, replaced by a home game vs. a G6 team, would be a smart scheduling move. Oregon should never play fewer than seven home games in any season. Oregon will likely have the most difficult schedule in the B1G in 2027 and one of the most difficult in the nation. Rob Mullens has done many good things for OBD, especially on the financial front, but the 2027 schedule is Cent-Less. 1

But I doubt that a one-off game in Waco, Texas, will have any effect on OBD's recruiting in the Lone Star State. Rob Mullens should do what he can to drop the Baylor series and schedule a 7th home game in 2027, when Oregon will arguably play the most difficult schedule, based on opponents and travel, in its history.
