The NCAA hands out penalties to the Michigan State football team.

This does not help J. Smith, but it may give Sparty a reason to keep Smith on for another year.

MSU is not a CFB top job, and these penalties make finding a new coach more difficult. And also, improving the lower third of the conference is now more difficult.
