So, women increased by 17 and men by 1.

One event remains in the pentathlon

The pentathlon all comes down to the 800 meters. Only 18 points separates first and second place — AND both are freshmen.

Oregon's Liisa-Maria Lusti and Illinois JaiCieonna Gero-Holt are in poll position entering the final event of the five-event circuit. Lusti moved in front on the fourth event after landing a 6.63-meter long jump to earn 1049 points. Meanwhile, Gero-Holt climbed the leaderboard with the top performances in the high jump and shot put. 

The result? 3680 points for the Oregon rookie and  3662 points for the Illinois rookie. If that wasn't enough, Vanderbilt's Janie Ford is in fourth place, just 134 points behind.

The pentathlon 800 meters takes the track at 5 p.m. CT/ 6 p.m. ET to decide the winner.

Lady Duck frosh Liisa-Maria Lusti won the Pentathlon by 32 points

Oregon's Liisa-Maria Lusti wins women's pentathlon

Oregon's Liisa-Maria Lusti is only a freshman, and she's already a national champion! The rookie Duck took home the women's pentathlon crown after a long five-event grind, finishing with 4498 points. 

Lusti outpaced Illinois' JaCieonna Gero-Holt in the 800 meters by one spot to hold off her fellow freshman and secure the top overall spot by 32 points.

In the grand scheme of things, Oregon picked up 10 team points thanks to Lusti. Illinois added eight team points after Gero-Holt's finish. An 800-meter DQ knocked off one point from Illinois' total after Meagan Humphries originally finished in eighth before a protest.

With Oregon and Illinois as two of the top team contenders entering the day, that DQ could carry weight down the line.

Oregon's Peyton Bair started the meet with a bang! opening the first event of the day with a collegiate record. The defending NCAA heptathlon champion ran 6.67 in the heptathlon 60 meters, an all-time heptathlon best. The record-breaking performance gives Bair 1003 points after the first event, putting him on an all-time pace.

Duck women won the Pentathlon and the Distance Medley Relay (DMR); they have 20 points (and are in 2d place).

Duck men have two points from the men's DMR (so far, they have a long way to go).

Payton Bair's final event at 2PM, the 1,000 meter run with a 328 point cushion.

Aiden Carter currently in 9th, 12 points off 8th, but projected to finish 10th. We'll see, go ducks!

Bair won the heptathlon; Carter finished 9th, 9 points out of 8th.

Arkansas takes the men's title, looks like the Ducks 2nd.
