woundedknees No. 1 Share Posted December 13, 2021 "None of this means Lanning won’t succeed handsomely. He could. If he makes a great offensive coordinator hire — unlike Jimmy Lake at Washington — Oregon could be special." Ouch! Even the Toe-jam honks think UW under Leak, er, Lake, was a joke. "Even without any football games being played, Mike Bohn and Lincoln Riley have already reshaped the chessboard in West Coast football." Leave it to a Trojan to take credit for something that may well have developed without their influence. There is definitely a reason the games are played on the field, rather than a simulator! HappyToBeADuck No. 2 Share Posted December 13, 2021 Time will tell on these 2 hires. In comparison. LR took over a well established offensive machine. He did not build that program. He maintained its excellence. LR did not build any type of defense while at OU. Can he build one at USC? Coach Lanning built the Bulldog defense into a powerhouse. Can he do the same at Oregon? Coach Lanning has work to do with the Oregon offense. His choice of OC will be telling if he wants to keep the Ducks on top. The play on the field will give us all the answers on these 2 young coaches.
Haywarduck Moderator No. 3 Share Posted December 13, 2021 The world, down in Compton, still revolves around themselves. Riley was response to their lack of having a coach, and the series of terrible coaching hires and fires. Chess is a series of moves, the first move is never the end. Our was in response to our coach leaving and the opportunity to step it up, what we do, and will continue to do.
