30Duck No. 1 Share Posted April 11, 2022 Coach Lombardi is in the situation that no coach ever wants to be in. In the game on Saturday Oregon led ASU 4-0. But ASU scored 6 runs in the 6th inning, aided by some costly errors by the No.1 ranked defense in the conference. Now Lombardi has to take the team on the road to Arizona, Softball, like basketball, is incredibly tough in the Pac-12, this season can still be very good for Oregon. But they need to get some wins. mrspenney No. 2 Share Posted April 11, 2022 Softball team has real pitching problems. No. 1 pitcher Brooke Yanez injured out for the year. Preseason No. 2 Jordan Dail is very spotty up one inning down the next very inconsistent. Klietherms started the season like a house on fire, seems to have peaked early and then headed south, Breedlove is a rookie who has a long way to go, which then leaves then with Hansen whose good , but doesn't seem to have insurance, after 4 innings or so she seems to fall apart. Yanez will be back next year, but hopefully they will bring in a top pitching recruit. It's going to be a tough rest of the season.
JDuck No. 3 Share Posted April 11, 2022 Seems those teams that win the natty always have at least one of those "generational" pitchers...if ML can recruit at least one of those...and Yanez back next year...we could be in the hunt
EOFan No. 4 Share Posted April 12, 2022 First and probably most important we have one of the best Coaches around! Coach Lombardi will make whatever adjustments need to be made so that the Ladies can still be highly competitive this season! Second for me is yes it will be great to get our outstanding Lefty Brooke Yanez back next season. Paired with Stevie Hansen after the way she has came along, watch out Pac-12! I can still see M.Klietherms being a solid part of the staff, especially after her more bulldog approach on Sunday, some of Stevie seemed to rub off on her! After those three it would be great to get a new top line recruit for next season!
