Your starting pitchers usually progress from the best and down from there. In this instance, Coach Wasikowski feels Gordon gives his Ducks the best opportunity for a win. Ayon is his next best starter to go longer innings in a game. Stoffal, while just coming back from injury, is a starter that needs the work (and hopefully confidence builder) and has a strong bullpen to back him up. My two cents.
