Smith72 Moderator No. 2 Share Posted September 18, 2022 Good recap of the rushing success for Oregon. Thank you Jordan! Irving and Whittington are really elusive strong runners. OBD are blessed to have a strong running back room. Equally impressive was Jordan James (true freshman) who came into game early to power thru for critical fourth down gains. In response to a question about Cardwell, Coach Lanning said he could have played but they wanted to protect him and allow him to recover. Such an improvement in coaching. Verdell was always overused to the point of getting injured.
Haywarduck Moderator No. 3 Share Posted September 18, 2022 Coach Locklyn is the early leader for assistant coach of the year. He brings in a few 3* transfers who seem like they may not fit in with our recent focus on 4* and 5* players. Both of these guys are just the kind of RB's Oregon has built it's RB tradition on. Well done RB room and Coach Locklyn! I also loved seeing the aggressiveness of Lanning going for it on 4th down. I also applaud his willingness to put in Ty early with a big lead. Both of these moves show incredible faith in the players on the field and the sidelines. If your healthy and practicing hard you will see the field. Great culture building by the head coach. The other big show was Nix. He has command of the offense and really all the players on the field. We have a leader, and once again well done by the coaching staff bringing in somebody they knew would fit in and could lead this young group. That was a Dilly of a game!
Drake Moderator No. 4 Share Posted September 18, 2022 Carlos Locklyn is an upgrade at RB coach. His guys are playing hard and getting it done. DL’s statement of “if you are good enough, you are old enough” looks to be spot on. Potential recruits will certainly notice how many freshman are getting on the field.
