Posted February 14, 20214 yr Administrator The Sunday morning paper in Eugene had an article about the process of the territory becoming the state of Oregon, since it was recognized on February 14, 1859. An interesting tidbit was how the state politicians decided to move the location of the state/territorial capital from Salem to Corvallis in 1855, but the federal government refused to recognize the change. So both houses convened in Corvallis and promptly voted to move the capital back to Salem. Can't say I blame them! Back to Salem! Mr. FishDuck
