Unbeaten and 17th-ranked Arkansas await Ducks at San Diego Invitational

Kelly Graves: "We're looking forward to it, and it's obviously going to be a big jump in competition for us."

Two of the three potential opponents have not lost this season, including 17th-ranked Arkansas (13-0), who the Ducks face on Tuesday.

The Razorbacks figure to give the 16th-ranked Ducks fits with their balanced offensive attack led by reigning SEC Freshman of the Year

Samara Spencer and dynamo point guard Makayla Daniels.

"They're good. They love the three ball and they shoot it well. They've got guards that can really

get to the basket and turn the corner," Graves said of Arkansas.

LOADED FIELD AWAITS DUCKS AT SAN DIEGO INVITATIONAL

Oregon is part of a stacked four-team field at the San Diego Invitational, which gets underway Tuesday at Pechanga Arena.

The Ducks will take on 17th-ranked Arkansas Tuesday and will take on either No. 3 Ohio State or South Florida on Wednesday.

The Razorbacks, who have started the season 13-0, will mark the second top-25 team the Ducks will face this season. Arkansas is coming off an 83-75 win at then-No. 16 Creighton, its second ranked win of the year after also taking down 25th-ranked K-State 69-53 at the Paradise Jam in the U.S. Virgin Islands.

VanSlooten, Rogers pace Ducks to victory over No. 17 Arkansas in San Diego

Oregon freshman Grace VanSlooten matched the new career-high 26 points set last Thursday in

a win over No. 17 Arkansas on Tuesday afternoon at the San Diego Invitational.

The backcourt paced the way late though, as senior Endyia Rogers scored eight of her 20 points in the final quarter and freshman guard Chance Gray hit the biggest shot of the day to put the team up five with a minute remaining in what became a 85-78 win in the first of two games for the Ducks in San Diego.

The win ensures the Ducks will play for the San Diego Invitational championship at 3:30 PM on Wednesday. The Ducks are now 10-1 with six straight wins following a loss to North Carolina at the Phil Knight Invitational on Thanksgiving Day.

Jennah Isai leaves Oregon women's basketball team due to 'personal reasons'

Oregon freshman guard Jennah Isai was noticeably missing in San Diego in the team's 85-78 win over No. 17 Arkansas on Tuesday afternoon.

Oregon radio broadcaster Terry Jonz indicated before and after the win that Isai had left the team to deal with "personal reasons".

Further details on Isai's status with the team are unknown at this juncture and head coach Kelly Graves was not asked about the departure

during the postgame radio interview nor was he made available to reporters following the win.

Ducks Knock Off Razorbacks in San Diego

The Ducks (10-1), who trailed by as many as seven in the fourth quarter, rallied with 30 fourth-quarter points to give head coach Kelly Graves his 200th win while at Oregon. Down 66-59 with 8:30 to play, UO went on an 11-3 run capped by a go-ahead 3-pointer by Chance Gray with 5:05 to go.

"The fans had to have been pleased with that – well played by both teams, up and down and making big plays late," Graves said. "I'm so proud of our team. This is a couple games now in the last two weeks where we've been down seven or eight in the mid to late fourth quarter, and we made the run and made some key plays."

I think that this was a really gritty victory not only because Arkansas is good and a very difficult match-up, but also because of the shock from Jenna Isai's decision, about which even her roommates (the other 3 freshmen) apparently knew nothing.  What seems especially puzzling is the fact that she came to San Diego with the team, participated in the team dinner Monday night, and then?  Perhaps we will know more within a couple of days.  In any case, I hope she finds whatever it is she wants/needs.

I also think that Te-Hina was kind of overwhelmed playing in front of family and friends during the first half, but not, fortunately, the second.

So, on to Ohio State with a roster of 8.

No. 3 Buckeyes thump Ducks in San Diego Invitational final to close non-league play

No. 3 Ohio State proved too lethal from distance, knocking in 12 threes, and too stingy on defense for the Ducks to keep up,

as they fell 84-67 in their final non-conference game of the season.

The Buckeyes blew the game open in the second quarter, turning a one-possession first quarter into a 17-point halftime lead —

the team's first double-figure deficit of the season.

Ohio State scored the first five points of the second half, but the Ducks scored the game's next 15 to cut it to seven early in

the fourth before a barrage of long bombs did the Ducks in.

Big Second Quarter Pushes No. 3 Ohio State by Oregon

Grace VanSlooten put up a career-high 29 points, but No. 3 Ohio State out-scored No. 16 Oregon by 15 points

in the second quarter on its way to an 84-67 victory in the title game of the San Diego Invitational.

Graves on going 10-2 before the bulk of conference play…
"I would've been happy with 10-2 coming in (to the season). We finished 2-1 against the Big Ten, we finished 1-0 against the SEC.

We played Oregon State, so 1-0 against the Pac-12. I think we are 4-2 against teams from power conferences, and several of those can make the NCAAs.

We've got to get better and got to get organized defensively. I thought we broke down a little bit down here on this trip."
