Charles Fischer Administrator No. 1 Share Posted February 4, 2023 This comes from a post on one of the pay sites, and I thought the information was interesting. We know that California is the major state for Oregon recruiting, so how did Mario Cristobal do with recruiting the Top-Ten players each year in California versus Dan Lanning? Mario Cristobal: 2018: 0/10 for top 10 Cali kids per 247 2019: 1/10 (KT) 2020: 1/10 (Flowe) 2021: 1/10 (Franklin) 3 Total Signing three out of forty was not great, especially considering the weakness at USC and UCLA. Dan Lanning: 2022: 2/10 (Tucker & Florence) 2023: 4/10 (Dickey, Matayo, Pleasant, & Austin) 6 Total Signing six out of 20? Recruiting twice as many top prospects than Cristobal in half the time? Whew! My FishDuck Friends....this to me is especially important to have a better recruiter for the Cali-Flock than even Cristobal. Gotta love the future! 1 1 2 6 Mr. FishDuck

HappyToBeADuck No. 3 Share Posted February 4, 2023 Charles, thanks for those numbers. The future certainly looks bright. Keeping top West Coast talent appears to be a top priority for Coach Lanning. The best part is that DL and his staff have better schemes and plans to put points on the board. Unlike MC ever did, ever will do and ever can do. Its nice to have a HC that doesnt hold back the offense. Now we need to see that defensive mind of DL move front and center. IMHO, with the 2023 QB talent in the PAC, the scoreboards out west are going get lit up. Having a D that gets off the field on 3rd and 4th downs will be needed to get the Ducks to the PAC title game and beyond. Excited about all the recruits and top level portal transfers and expect spring ball to be brutal and competitive. GO Ducks........ 2 1 1
