WiseKwacker No. 16 Share Posted March 20, 2023 No disparaging remarks about the team's 3 leading scorers this season, BUT these last two games have been very revealing about this season. The team plays with much more fricken-L-O-W with this group of players. I'm really excited for next year...and I'm not giving up on this team's chances of winning the NIT. The real test for this group will be when they have to play away from Matt Court. So good to see guys like BIttle, Wor and Williams get a chance to show their skills.

I was thinking the same thing. This group seems to have better chemistry and try harder for the team. It will be interesting to see what happens with the new talent coming in next year. GO DUCKS! Pennsylvania Duck Author Moderator No. 25 Share Posted March 20, 2023 Nate Bittle's career day leads Oregon to NIT quarterfinals For the second straight game in the NIT the Ducks found a career-high performance from a player stepping into a bigger role due to the Ducks' top three players sitting out with injuries. For a second straight game, the Oregon Ducks used that performance to blow out their opponent. Sunday night at Matthew Knight Arena, the Oregon Duck men's basketball team fought through a slow start offensively to beat visiting UCF 68-54 and advance to the quarterfinals of the NIT for the second time in Dana Altman's time at Oregon. Sophomore forward Nate Bittle was a dominant player in a game that featured multiple NBA players. The 7-foot big man scored a career-high 21 points on 7-of-14 shooting, while also tying his career-high in rebounds with 13. Bittle added two assists and one steal and was the best player on the floor. Pennsylvania Duck Author Moderator No. 26 Share Posted March 20, 2023 MBB Recap: Ducks dominate UCF, advance to NIT quarterfinals It’s not March Madness, but Dana Altman and the Oregon Ducks are making some noise in the month of March, and without their three best players, on top of that. With Will Richardson, N’Faly Dante, and Jermaine Couisnard still sidelined with injury, the Ducks came out and got a dominant win over the UCF Knights on Sunday afternoon, 68-54. It featured a career day for Nate Bittle, who finished with 21 points and 13 rebounds, both career highs. Pennsylvania Duck Author Moderator No. 28 Share Posted March 20, 2023 Motivated Ducks Extend Season With Win Through two NIT games, the Oregon men's basketball team hasn't just managed to survive. The Ducks have been able to thrive. Winning comfortably for the second time in this tournament, the UO men led from midway through the first half to the end of a 68-54 victory Sunday over Central Florida before 3,019 fans in Matthew Knight Arena. The Ducks earned another home game in the NIT quarterfinals, against Wisconsin on Tuesday. "Some people I know, their seasons already ended," UO freshman Kel'el Ware said. "I'm just happy to keep hooping, working on my craft in practice and in the games." In a tournament that often seems to be decided by which team is most motivated, the Ducks have made clear their intention to play as long as possible. Nate Bittle has helped see to that by setting a career high in scoring both games, including 21 points plus 13 rebounds on Sunday. EastBayDuckDad Moderator No. 31 Share Posted March 20, 2023 This NIT run may be a bit of a blessing in disguise. With three starters out, an NCAA bid would likely have been brief. Role players and limited minutes starters like Guerrier, Ware, Barthelemy, Soares and Bittle are getting major roles and elevating their games. Legs are fresher and there seems to be a lot of energy and motivation. Inside-outside ball movement is as good as it's been all year. Defense has been aggressive and tenacious. Bittle is growing by leaps and bounds (sorry for the pun), Ware finally seems engaged and Soares has discovered a bit of his inner Chris Duarte. Not his game by a long shot (mea culpa, another pun), but Wur has even hit a couple of timely treys. Getting Cousinard and Dante back would help at the point and rotationally inside against Wisconsin and beyond. The added depth would be an advantage for sure. Even if they don't return, the development and opportunity for the other guys has been worth taking the NIT bid. Lots to like with who Altman has coming in next fall.
