HDuck replied to Charles Fischer's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Oregon is currently playing its first game of the Big Tournament vs Michigan St. And, its second game on Friday will be vs Nebraska. Due to the combos of W-L, and how the games were scheduled, we already know 3 semi-finalist teams for Saturday games. Penn State will face Oregon/Nebraska UCLA will face Iowa. -

2-1 Ducks after one inning, and you need to be aware that the fields in this stadium are HUGE. It looks like twice as much distance for fielders to cover, and should open it up for more hits, which can lean things in a direction of a good hitting team....like Oregon. Another element? My guesses about using freshman pitchers and taking it as a "throwaway game," was a wrong take. Coach Waz explained in the pregame interview that he wants to WIN all four games in order to be a National Seed, and be able to host both the Regionals and Super-Regionals. So, my opinion was worth what you paid for...nothing! With that...Waz pulled a great reliever, Ian Umlandt, and made him today's starter. The Spartans got a good hit that went for a double, (which is MUCH easier in this ballpark) and then sacrificed him in for their run. Dominic Hellman walked, and Drew Smith bunted to first to put runners on first and second. Then Anson Aroz batting left-handed, had the shift to cover his right-field tendency...and then he hits a screamer into deep extreme left field to give him a double, score Hellman, and even score the swift Smith from first.

It does not matter whether we win or lose tonight at all. There is no need to play the game, because if Nebraska beats Oregon on Friday...they would be 2-0 and advance. If Oregon loses tonight and then beats Nebraska, then all teams are 1-1, but the highest seed, the Ducks, would advance. So bottom line is that tonight's game is meaningless beyond the two teams' overall record, although it will be Michigan's State's last game of the year...hence they will want to win. For Oregon...the only game that matters is Friday's versus the Cornhuskers. Back-Up Catcher was Also Freshman of the Year!

Thursday Ted Talk - 2025 Oregon TV Predictions
spartan2785 replied to NJDuck's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
As many NBC and CBS games as possible please, I don't like Fox's broadcasts, the only part of Fox I actually like is Klatt, I think Klatt does a good job, otherwise I would prefer the other networks, I also don't want to watch Oregon games at 9 AM. -
Oregon was a mainstay on network television in their first season in the Big Ten, playing 9 of their 12 regular season games on FOX, CBS or NBC. With FOX already announcing they will be televising the Ohio State vs Michigan and Ohio State vs Texas games, it’s time to look at which networks I think the Ducks could be playing on over the course of the 2025 season.

CFP Moves to Straight Seed Approach for Byes
Jon Joseph replied to HDuck's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Where were you when I wanted you? Where were you when I needed you? Can we flash back to 1/1/25 and watch OBD play Boise State or the Hoosiers in the Rose Bowl, instead of being format-hosed-over? 'NO.' -
Schedule Change for OREGON, and the B1G Baseball Tournament

As I understand this, if Oregon loses to Michigan State tonight, the game against Nebraska, on their home field, is a Must Win, isn't it? -

Since I mentioned Agee & Swoboda previously: -
They weren't' excluded before, the byes went to conference champions. Now there is no incentive at all for Notre Dame to join a conference, "Oh don't bother Notre Dame, here you go."
-
Now, if they just re-seed after each round.
-
The Top Four seeds in 2024 were 1- Oregon 2- Georgia 3- Texas 4- Penn State The first-round byes went to: 1- Oregon 2- Georgia 9- Boise St 11- Arizona State Texas became the 5-seed Penn State became the 6-seed

ESPN, Heather Dinich Twitter The 12-team College Football Playoff will move to a straight seeding model this fall, rewarding the selection committee’s top four teams with the top four seeds and a first-round bye, multiple sources told ESPN. The 10 FBS commissioners and Notre Dame athletic director Pete Bevacqua, who comprise the CFP’s management committee, reached the unanimous agreement necessary to make the change during a call on Thursday afternoon. This means Notre Dame will now no longer be excluded from a first-round bye if they have a top four seed. The byes were granted to conference champions only.

I gotta say, my interest in sports started in '69 with the Jets & Broadway Joe winning Super Bowl lll, then it was the Miracle Mets, Seaver, Tommy Agee, Ron Swoboda making miracle catches in the OF, and finally, the Knicks, with Walt "Clyde" Frazier beat the Lakers 4-3, to win the NBA Championship, and oh yeah, THIS> -
Schedule Change for OREGON, and the B1G Baseball Tournament
HDuck replied to Charles Fischer's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
This 3-team 4-Pod thing is interesting. There is a Pod with (3 seed) Iowa, Indiana and Rutgers, for example. Iowa is 1-0 after playing May 21. The other 2 teams are 1-1 Rutgers 0-1 Indiana Because the best Rutgers and Indiana can be is 1-1, and the worst Iowa could be is 1-1, the 3-seed Hawkeyes already know they will play May 24 in the semi-final. Iowa plays Indiana tonight May 22, but the outcome makes absolutely no difference in progressing to May 24. They could start the ball boy on the mound, and it wouldn't matter. They already know they will play UCLA because UCLA is 2-0 after two early games, the second one completed early this morning. (Oregon's first game is this evening) I don't know the better approach, but this just seems weird to me in terms of "competition." Play more games in a single day? Play games at two sites instead of one? Seems counter to seeding? Maybe I'm just making it too complicated?
