For the Love of the West…
I am rooting for Oregon’s former PAC-12 brethren, the Arizona Wildcats to win it all in hoops this year. Since Arizona last won it in 1997, only two programs west of the Mississippi River, Baylor (2021) and Kansas (2008, 2022) have won March Madness. That is awful. Even Mr. FishDuck paused from his study for the upcoming season at FanDuel ... Read More Source Read the full article here...

Big Ten Has Stolen SEC Mojo, and Isn't About to Give it Back
Thanks for the post. Fun stuff to read, but ... Three years is a snapshot. Best to make sure you don't make a B1G mistake and overreact to close-run things in football and basketball. The B1G beat goes on, and Dixie is dumped on. And I say, 'Not So Fast' in two respects. A year ago, the SEC owned March Madness. The B1G went 5-0 vs the SEC in this year's tourney, but except for the Michigan blowout of Tennessee, the games were close. Last season in football, the B1G won it all, but the SEC had five teams in the field, and Ole Miss was this close to playing for a title. And Bama was not the only football team destroyed by Indiana in the playoffs. 🤬 A terrific B1G run in football the last three seasons, no doubt. But this comes after a couple of decades of SEC dominance. Win with dignity, lose with grace. Let the other guy beat their 'It Just Means More' breasts. Success on the field, court, etc., speaks for itself without rubbing it in. Speak softly and carry a B1G stick. In the last year, LSU committed $252 million to athletics. Many SEC teams are all in on sports. Will the B1G win the CBB title this year? Will the B1G dominate the moneyball sports through the end of the decade? Maybe. Perhaps it's because I am a greybeard and have walked this mortal coil for a while that I believe three years of anything represents a trend, and not lasting dominance. But while it lasts, it's nice for OBD to be a part of the B1G fun.👍👌😍

Portland Shuts Down Duck Bats with a 3-0 Victory
1-0 Pilots after eight innings. Luke Morgan kept us in it--thanks to a back pick-off by catcher Burke-Lee Mabeus to first base to catch the runner. Ducks strand two...

Portland Shuts Down Duck Bats with a 3-0 Victory
1-0 Pilots after seven innings. Miles Gosztola got a first out, but was in the 90s in his pitch count. Luke Morgan relieved him and took care of the other outs. It is a good thing Oregon is pitching so well, because our hitters have been stymied.
-
Portland Shuts Down Duck Bats with a 3-0 Victory
1-0 Pilots after six innings. Miles Gosztola went 1-2-3 again! Ducks cannot make good contact on the pitches...and flailed.

Portland Shuts Down Duck Bats with a 3-0 Victory
1-0 Pilots after five innings. Miles Gosztola has so superb, and kept us in this game. Ducks strand bases-loaded...yikes.
-
Portland Shuts Down Duck Bats with a 3-0 Victory
1-0 Pilots after four innings. Miles Gosztola is looking sharp with a 1-2-3 inning. Ducks strand a runner on second...great pitching from our opponent.

Portland Shuts Down Duck Bats with a 3-0 Victory
1-0 Portland after three innings. Miles Gosztola gave up a solo homer, but closed out the rest. Nothing on offense yet for Our Beloved Ducks.

Portland Shuts Down Duck Bats with a 3-0 Victory
0-0 after two innings. Featherston only pitched the first--getting back into shape and was relieved by Mile Gosztola. One hit and disposed the rest... Nothing on offense.

Portland Shuts Down Duck Bats with a 3-0 Victory
0-0 after one inning. The surprise was seeing Ryan Featherston back and starting at pitcher! He has not pitched in 20 days, and he gave up a hit, but dispensed with the rest for a scoreless first inning. Portland surprised us as well; they went with their Saturday starter, (who only pitched two innings) so I guess they really want to win? Ducks stranded on runner on second...

Betting on These Newcomers to the Big Ten Coming Up B1G
ESPN's B1G take on B1G newcomers reduced to a Nutshell by an old CFB nut. Illinois - QB Katin Houser - Transfer from E. Carolina - The Fighting Illini are hoping that Houser is not a QB Hoser. Indiana - QB Josh Hoover - Transfer from TCU - Will Josh vacuum up as many wins as Fernando? Iowa - WR Tony Diaz - Transfer from the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley - If Tony can catch as many passes per game as there are letters in his former school, UOTRGV, he could be the Hawkeyes pass game whole enchilada. Maryland - CB Amari Jackson - Transfer from Boston College - Looks like Locks believes in BC. Michigan - Freshman RB Savion Hiter - Whit is hoping that Savion will be a savior for the Wolverines run game. Michigan State - RB Cam Edwards - Transfer from UConn - If you can't beat them in basketball ... Minnesota - Edge TJ Bush - Transfer from Cal - Can a Golden Bear morph into a Golden Gopher? Nebraska - QB Anthony Colander - Transfer from UNLV - With Dylan Ducking out, why not see if a guy from UNLV is aces on the Pass Line? Northwestern - QB Aiden Chiles - Transfer from Michigan State by way of Oregon State - Honey Chiles is hoping his OC will be a Chip off the Ohio State championship block and not the guy who rolled Craps in Las Vegas. Ohio State - DB Earl Little Junior - Transfer from FSU - He comes from Tallahassee; he's got a high flyin' chassis. OREGON - S Koi Perich - Who knew that a Gopher has to Duck? Penn State - QB Rocco Becht - Transfer from Iowa State - Rocco is one of 24 players from Iowa State that a Cyclone blew into State College, PA. Purdue - WR Bisi Owens - Transfer from Penn - Ross-Ade Stadium, like Wrigley Field, now has Ivy in the house. Rutgers - DE Malachi Davis - Transfer from Toledo - Holy Corporal Maxwell Q. Klinger! The Scarlet Knights' D was Mashed last season. Bringing in Davis looks like Schiano gives a Swit. UCLA - Edge Sahir West - Transfer from James Madison - One of the many JMU players following Coach Chesney On His Way West. USC - WR Terrell Anderson - Transfer from NC State - Linc is hoping this guy turns into a Lemon. Washington - DT DeSean Watts - Transfer from Sacramento State - A Watts in Seattle and not South Central? Wisconsin - QB Colton Joseph - Transfer from Old Dominion - On occasion, a name speaks for itself. 😁 Notre Dame - Nothing to see here. Move right along. Big Ten Has Stolen SEC Mojo, and Isn't About to Give it Back
And, USC doesn't have softball or they would be a perennial contender. An interesting podcast too from Ohio State country with one of the pod guys saying he just visited Tallahassee and believes Florida State is positioning themselves to enter the Big Ten in 2029 as their first priority. Oregon Football: Projected Win Total in 2026
I’d say 11-1, but there will be a twist such as beating tOSU but losing to Michigan or Illinois. I get that it might be easy to overlook MSU based upon being between Michigan and UW and on the road…but MSU is a complete dumpster fire with yet another new coach. They should be limping heavily by 11/21. That’s the type of game where if OBD plays sub-par we should still easily win by double digits imo. DL has yet to lose to a B1G team without a pulse and I have a hard time envisioning MSU being the one to get him this particular year. Biggest traps imo are Boise (don’t think we’d actually lose, but first game at full strength for them), Illinois, Michigan. Those are solid teams that can bite you if you don’t bring it.

Portland Shuts Down Duck Bats with a 3-0 Victory
Lookout! The Pilots have a team that has surged, winning nine of their last ten games to be at 17-8, and 5-1 in WCC conference play. They can hit multiple homers in a game, and they have the 8th best ERA staff in the country! They have wins over two Big-10 teams in Purdue and last Tuesday vs. Northwestern. They also beat Oregon State 3-1 and the pitcher to who beat No. 9 Beavis and last Tuesday vs. Northwestern is Carter Gaston, who I expect to pitch against us tonight. He has an ERA of 0.81...and this is not someone who has pitched five innings this season...this is over 22 innings, and against good teams. They have come on strong, and LOVE beating Oregon, as they did last year, 10-9 when our pitchers melted down. Let's Go Ducks!
