Many Big B1G Football Games in 2025, But Give Me 5!

The Ducks have the B1G scared senseless over going to Pen State scheduling it at that ridiculous time. -

Very impressive. Isiah ends up going to Indiana, and he should have been on the Dream Team. It was Mary Thomas who ultimately made the decision. She called a press conference and announced, “My son has made his decision. He’s going to Indiana University.” Isiah remembers the moment with humor: “I wasn’t even smiling. My head was down. It was totally her decision.” The rest is history. Thomas led Indiana to a national championship and launched his path to the NBA Hall of Fame. But it all started with a mother who, in the midst of poverty, showed that some things—like her son’s future—are simply not for sale.

Three Big Questions facing Oregon Football following Spring We are a week removed from the spring game and now the void is starting to set in. The 3 months between the conclusion of spring practice and the beginning of fall camp can be an agonizing and grueling waiting out period, but with it brings the opportunity to get away from football for a bit and explore the great outdoors. Good one, Ted. Although I love scenic mountain hikes, let’s be honest, I’ll be thinking about football just like you through these summer months and here are 3 big questions facing the Oregon Ducks before fall camp kicks off. 1) IS THE QB BATTLE A LEGIT COMPETITION? 2) WHERE DO WR TARGETS GO OUTSIDE OF STEWART & MOORE? 3) JUST HOW HIGH CAN THE DEFENSE FLY? Three Big Questions facing Oregon Football following Spring - On3 WWW.ON3.COM The Oregon Spring game is in the rear view and we are left with three big questions about this team moving forward.

A B1G Heisman in 2025? Big Ten Football: 5 stars capable of snapping Heisman Trophy drought SATURDAYTRADITION.COM There are a lot of Heisman hopefuls from the Big Ten in 2025, but 5 stick out and have a chance to be the league's first winner since 2006. Smith and Allar are reasonable considerations. But Nico, Raiola, and Downs without reps on O or with stellar KO and or punt returns, No Way. PSU RB's Singleton and Allen, both went 100+ yards vs OBD in the B1G champ game, are better candidates. Dante Moore has a better shot than Nico playing for UCLA and Riola playing for Nebraska. Other than that ...

Think B1G or go home! In the last 7 games OBD swept the much respected Rodents from Corvallis, took 2 of 3 @ Michigan State. They lost one, to I hope is the best pitcher in the conference, and respect to him, it was wind- aided. So now, Ducks, don't slip up against St Mary's, and get for the pups this weekend, a slap on the snout with a rolled up newspaper---or maybe a couple of homers, from the national leader...or the all-time career leader in Oregon...and don't forget Lurch on Sunday!

Thank you, Mike, and Funduck, for the great comments. I think that one of the four Week 5 B1G games will be moved to Friday night. It cannot be the Indiana at Iowa game. Due to the proximity of Childrens Hospital to Kinnick Field, Iowa City does not allow Iowa to play Friday night games at home. The Iowa game is out for Friday night. Illinois will not be happy if one of its two premier home games, USC (the other B1G home game is vs. Ohio State), is played on Friday night, especially after going on the road against Indiana in Week 4. USC plays Michigan State in LA the week prior, and Troy will push back on having to travel to the Central time zone, and playing on Friday night. However, Oregon had to do this last season, playing at Purdue on Friday night after playing a huge game versus Ohio State. So, and unfortunately for OBDers traveling to Beaver Stadium, I think we could very well see OBD at the Nits on Fox at Noon; Indiana at Iowa on CBS at 3:30; USC at Illinois 7:30 (6:30 local) on NBC. Ohio State at UW is a fit for Friday night. Ohio State is off the week before tripping to Seattle, and UW travels only as far as Pullman to play Wazzu in Week 4. I do not think Ohio State would be against a Friday night game, as it would have the Buckeyes returning a day earlier before its Week 6 game vs. Minnesota. UW plays at Maryland in Week 6, so before traveling to the Eastern time zone, the Huskies should be OK with a Friday night game against Ohio State. A game that would sell out on Saturday, Friday, or Tuesday night. However, other than the city-mandated impediment to the Hoosiers at the Hawkeyes game being played on Friday night, I'm probably giving too much weight to what the teams think about the timing of the games. In 2024, Ohio State was saddled with SEVEN Big Noon kick-off games. Michigan, which refuses to play on Friday nights simply because it doesn't want to, seems to be the one B1G team that influences when its games will kick off. Alabama at Georgia is ripe for the 7:30 Eastern kickoff on ABC with the Full ESPN Monty beginning with GameDay in Athens. The only B1G contest that could challenge this game for viewer numbers is Ohio State vs. Michigan. The other Penn State home game besides Nebraska that could be White Out material is the Week 11 game vs. Indiana. However, Fox had no problem in 2024 having Ohio State and Penn State start at Noon, with the PSU game vs. UW being the White Out game. I'm certain that Tony Petitti has had his ears filled by B1G programs complaining about the game times and viewership compared to ESPN/ABC's far better kick-off times strategy. Whether he can do anything about starting times before 2031 is doubtful. Let's Play Ball! -
From a Duck view, one thing is evident; the rankings people really respect Oregon State, thus Oregon's four-game-sweep of Beavis swayed the pollsters quite a bit. The OSU rankings dropped, but not as much as I thought a four-game-sweep would have, hence their respect for the program in Corvallis. Considering our position presently...I'm thinking that if Oregon wins six of the final eight--winning the two B1G series, but dropping one game in each....I believe we have a Regional to show for it. If we were to somehow sweep all eight games--we would have a real shot at a Super-Regional hosting. Plausible? Another homer for Mason Neville...

Wowsa. In the most popular rankings, the one used by the NCAA where they state their rankings are, "Courtesy of D1Baseball," Our Beloved Ducks have moved up to No. 5 in the nation. Ol' Beavis is No. 10, UCLA is No. 18, and a team that I predicted would eventually be ranked...USC, is now in the Top-25 at No. 25. Oregon's RPI is No. 30 with Warren Nolan, and No. 24 with the NCAA rankings. Baseball America has Oregon at No. 10, Oregon State at No. 15, and UCLA at No. 24. USA TODAY has the Ducks at No. 10, OSU at No. 12, and UCLA at No. 14. I will have a post later this week about what we need to do for a shot at the B1G Championship, but the ranking discussion above pertains to hosting a Regional, and possibly even a Super-Regional. All three rankings have Oregon well into the top-16, which is needed to host an NCAA Baseball Playoff Regional, but if Oregon wins nearly all their games remaining, a Super is a shot... Oregon plays on Tuesday and Wednesday vs. St. Marys, and the Bastard Huskies at PK Park, (this weekend) then a final series at Iowa. The final two weeks are going to have drama! Stay together, and get it done Ducks!
