BIG Coaches Discuss Lanning Decisions, Ducks and Moore
30Duck replied to Steven A's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Gosh, I always enjoy when Anonymous Coach tells it like it is. -
There's no surprise here. The SEC dropping its rationale for the 8 games, "We're too good" isn't happening. A short week for Texas? Heavens No!

There is confusion on where to watch tonight's Baseball Regional Playoff game. Originally, the schedule on GoDucks.com stated that the game was on ESPN+, but then yesterday morning it changed to TV on ESPNU. Problem is, my TV listing locally for Comcast/Xfinity shows UC Irvine vs. Arizona State at that time, and as of this morning on Friday--it continues to show that. Meanwhile, GoDucks.com continues to show ESPNU, and I emailed the Sports Information Director for Oregon Baseball about the issue, and he says that what is on the schedule at GoDucks.com, (ESPNU) is correct. When I go to the schedule for ESPN+...it shows the Oregon game to stream at 6:00 PM! When I go to the online schedule of ESPNU at their website....at 6:00 PM it states...."TBA" of which is pretty damn strange for the day-of a Playoff game. So there IS a chance of our game on ESPNU at 6:00 PM, and I guess we will find out tonight.

I agree. The announcers were Bruin Blue all game, and when the analyst said she thought, "that unfortunately the call would be reversed" in Oregon's favor, I could only shake my head. But, and Sinicki said so herself that she was lucky she scored, she was out by a mile.

Not So Fast! It looks like the SEC is ready to hand Tony Petitti a B1G in-your-face. The SEC, at the end of its spring meetings, made certain to let everyone know that the 8 regular-season games in the SEC Just Mean More. For the first time (RIGHT?) Greg Sankey found enlightenment. 6 SEC teams in the Committee's top 16 last season, including 3-loss Bama, Ole Miss, and South Carolina, would have made a 16-team PO field. Thank goodness someone brought this to Greg's attention. On the field, a 4-loss Michigan team with many starters sitting out defeated an all-hands-on-deck Bama team in its bowl game. Ditto for 3-loss Illinois taking out 3-loss South Carolina. Nothing to see here, move right along. S(ec)SDD. We're the best, we only need to play 8 regular-season games to prove it. The Committee? The Committee's spot-on rankings were negated by the field only having 12 teams. We need a 16-team PO! We trust the Committee will continue to recognize that our teams' 3 losses are superior to 2 losses everywhere else. We have paid attention to our friends in the ACC and the B12. Five conference champions and 11 at-large teams is the PO format we need; it's the Fairer Way, No Doubt! I never fell for the B1G/SEC detente. You could SEC this possible rope-a-dope coming from as far away as Minneapolis is from Destin, Florida, site of the SEC's annual beach retreat. The Michigan at Oklahoma Week 2 game will kick off at 7:30 EST on ABC. Disney does all it can to aid its SEC partner, while Fox is a B1G Mickey Mouse. However, Fox agreed to move the Texas/ Ohio State game to 7:30 Sunday night of Week 1 instead of Noon on Saturday. Texas vetoed the game time move. The Texas athletic director noted that it would give Texas a short week before its next game and that on Sunday, he goes to church. The Longhorns' Week 2 opponent? San Jose State. We'll see how this plays out, but I expect the SEC will stay at 8 regular season games, and that a possible B1G vs. SEC football challenge was just part of the S(ec)ucker Punch.

If I'm honest I think that's the deserved result, there is no way that the second Oregon run should have been scored, I don't care if that's the way the rule is laid out, in no way should that be obstruction. The rule should be changed, it basically encourages teams to make boneheaded running decisions since it's just natural to put your foot on the corner of the plate. It's one thing to put your foot there not allow a runner to slide into home when you are still in the process of making the catch, it's another when the ball beats the runner by a mile. I know this all came out of the Buster Posey injury, but it's gotten ridiculous at this point. I'm not blaming the officials, I'm blaming the way the rule is spelled out.

Good News for Our Forum Attendees on the Penn State Game!
spartan2785 replied to Jon Joseph's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Fox is the absolute worst, worst studio group, worst visuals, worst times, worst play by play, I actually like Klatt...he's been very good I think, I don't always agree with him, but I think he's very reasonable, and I don't think he really has an agenda. Everything else is horrible. NBC is probably the best of the options, CBS is still in its SEC mode where they would rather be talking about Bama and the greatness of everything in the south. I'll be honest I still wish we could watch our biggest games on ABC and get Herbie on the broadcast or Tessitore or others, Noah Eagle though is good. -

In Other Broadcast News, the Michigan at Oklahoma game in Week 2 kicks off at 7:30 Eastern on ABC. Michigan’s road tilt vs Oklahoma just got harder with night game scheduled WWW.MAIZENBREW.COM Michigan at Oklahoma is officially a night game. How much harder will that make things for the Wolverines? Disney, ABC, and ESPN do everything possible to give the SEC an edge. Fortunately, Fox wasn't able to derail the OBD/PSU White Out. -
