  1. Edit doesn't show up in the drop-down when I press it.
  2. Sorry, Charles, I can't edit my last post and break into paragraphs.
  3. There's a contradiction in the offense IMO. The coaches want to pound the football and use play action. However, the running scheme seems extremely limited with the reliance on the pistol and to a lesser extent not stretching teams with the jet sweep. Having a great runner at QB would make the running game much more effective. It's also possible to set up the run with the pass. That can be accomplished with a QB like Butterfield. Spread teams out, throw the football, and open up the box for the RB. This is not what we do. So Butterfield's talent will never be maximized in the existing scheme IMO which is what happened to Herbert. For better or worse, MC and JoMo want to run first and pass second. I don't believe we'll ever see an offense that really stretches the field in all directions with the passing game and utilizes all the skill talent on the roster. So if we're going to rely on the pistol, then having a QB that scares the D with his legs on every play is critical.
  4. Impossible to say but I think you'll see one or two of the QBs transfer out. Butterfield doesn't seem to fit the offense IMO. Seems more like a pure passer and less of a runner. If the coaches really want the QBs to run the football, I suggest giving Robbie Ashford a legitimate look. He's a big time athlete. Ty Thompson is an elite talent.
  5. Couldn't agree more. Must score boatload of points and must attack by throwing the football. The existing paradigm on offense won't cut it. At some point, MC will garner a negative reputation for his conservative offenses and recruiting will be impacted.
  6. Great question. If Covid is crushed before the first game because of the vaccine, then it may not be necessary to even worry about it. However, if Covid is still lingering, then a vaccine, social distancing or a mask will have to be considered. It really depends on how fast the vaccine is distributed to the broader public and its effectiveness.
  7. The bigger question to me is will the coaches let Ty Thompson save Oregon football? Justin Herbert was woefully underutilized and if it weren't for a stingy D in 2019, we don't win the PAC12 or the Rose Bowl. Ohio State, Alabama, and Clemson score massive points. We need to do the same if we want to go to the next level.
  8. Schooler ran a 10.76 1OOM and long jumped over 23 foot in HS. He had good straight line speed but not much wiggle. He could really high point the football on the back end of the D and had good range.
  9. This team has huge potential once Richardson returns. It's the kind of team that Altman loves, it doesn't rely on shooting percentages to win. The defensive intensity is incredible. If Kepang can provide any inside presence on defense for brief minutes that would be a big bonus. This is a sweet 16 team at the very least.
  10. Schooler is a great athlete. Free safety was his best position IMO.
  11. I like Steele, Mason and Sirmon from that list. Another coach to consider is UCLA assistant Brian Norwood who completely revamped UCLA's porous defense. Chip Kelly hired him from Navy and he installed an attacking 4-2-5 defense that led the conference in sacks.
  12. We've got two out of three ingredients for a top notch program, culture and talent. We do not have top notch coaching. Players are not getting developed, especially on offense. The scheme does not exploit the skill players in the passing game. We do not create explosive plays. In game adjustments are absent. We scored zero points in the second half yesterday and have had problems most of the year scoring in the 4th quarter. It is what it is, we're stuck.
  13. Good article, Ryan. The D is more likely to turn the corner than the offense next season IMO. We've got a lot of young talent on that side of the ball. The offense is a hot mess. If Anthony Brown leaves that creates an open competition because he should start next year if he's still on the team. Shough is not the answer so does it come down to a battle between Butterfield and Thompson if Brown walks? I would like to see Millen get a fair shot but that's unlikely. In any event, expect an inexperienced QB under center next season. A bigger problem is our scheme. We're living in the golden era of passing; it needs to be featured not take a backseat. The top programs create huge plays on a weekly basis from the passing game. We have some outstanding receivers that are completely ignored. MC does not want to lean on the passing game. At some point the recruiting could fall off if we don't take the next step on offense. The Ty Thompson's of the world will soon figure out that the offense does exploit their skills. Ditto for receivers like D Williams and Pittman.
  14. 24-17 Iowa St. The Cyclones remind me of Stanford from years past. Heavy sets, power running, big receivers and stingy D. The Oregon D will have to stuff the run or this game will grind to a halt with 12-13 possessions. MC wants to lean on the run but he may be forced to play some tempo and throwing the ball the 2nd half in order to preserve the clock and maximize possessions in order to catch-up. This game will likely determine Shough's future. Can he lead the team to victory in the 4th quarter?
