  1. Hostile environment favors us, we clearly lose steam when there's no pressure, I'm sure Dan could use that metaphor or something similar as the message. Create your own steam because this Tech team is legit. The RBs have a mix of power and speed like Davison for us and the WRs make contested catches pretty often. The defense scared me before watching the tape, but they seem really vulnerable to misdirection. If you can get crossing routes to flow against the pass rush you can hit big plays, Utah and Dilly did it multiple times. That Utah game was closer than the score and gave me hope that we can move the ball. Our defense is actually what concerns me, these Tech backs can run for 5 or 6 yards after contact if Flowers or Dillon are the first to arrive. Flowers continues to miss open field tackles and that can hurt us against this team especially since Morton can run well. I think this looks a lot like our 2023 match-up, down to the last possession.
  2. Yeah even using him as a decoy and getting him used to blocking again. Putting him in on 2nd and short or red zone packages, because having dak, estew, and Benson out there is a nightmare for the secondary and we can use that to run against lighter fronts.
  3. Likely no EStew, but i think we'll be okay. DL is constantly saying they keep them out to protect them, he likely doesn't think we'll need him for JMU. No disrespect to JMU, they're a good defense but we ran for almost 8 YPC against Iowa, we don't need another outside weapon if get Dak back. However seeing his name means if we win hes a lock for the TTU game.
  4. All week I've been on OU but right before kickoff I am leaning Bama. I just have that feeling of doom watching Debore in his pregame.
  5. This is why I should have caffeine before typing, but yeah you are absolutely correct. I think our trenches are among the best in the nation and Dante has surprised me with his arm more times than I can count. Cautiously optimistic
  6. I disagree as Johnson has been an awesome weapon when the linebackers are more focused on Sadiq. Also getting this depth back means we can spread the ball around more and run it more effectively as Uw stacked the box and negated our run game. TTU could do the same thing if we dont have reliable downfield passing. All love to Sadiq but he's not getting more than 15 yards before the ball comes his way, kind of the same with JMac. His best routes are 15-20 yards from LoS and usually to the outside, GBJ is phenomenal in the seam/slot area. Maybe I'm overthinking it but TTU scares me as much as Indiana defensively at least.
  7. Might be bizarre to say this but I think this helps our special teams massively. In close games we've seen the return game come up huge and having an extra receiver that can field punts or kickoffs could help us steal some points against elite teams. Also just having Dak or EStew automatically drags a safety to that side for help over the top so Moore can find Sadiq or GBJ underneath.
  8. I think the difference between Tech and Indiana is how they get pressure. Indiana uses disguised pressure/coverage and their pure pass rushers use stunts and twists to confuse the blocking assignments. Our transfer heavy O-line had not yet gelled as they say, they were just 5 guys trying to block. But after the Wisconsin game they seem to have meshed into a unit, the USC game was proof. I think injuries affected them against UW the next week but I think they'll handle Tech better than most. I still expect a battle but they don't scare me the way Indiana and Georgia do.
  9. G5 is in to avoid antitrust lawsuits, whether we like it or not we are headed toward a B1G/SEC super league with 16 playoff spots. I personally like JMU poking fun at their presence in the playoffs. At least they seem to be enjoying the ride
  10. We have the path of least resistance but TTU is very good defensively and the longer the game goes on the better they get. JMU is also a talented defense with similar skill profiles at edge rusher to Tech. I think Georgia and Indiana are the two toughest teams in the bracket
  11. I actually think Benson is just as good of a match for EStew. JMac has been exceptional and I had predicted a big year for him with Stewart out. Getting GBJ and DAK back are the keys as Bryant is excellent finding the first down marker and sitting while DAK requires extra attention which is its own advantage. I'm more excited to see Poncho and the rest of the line healthy as our run game suffered mightily against that purple team. Either way we have more weapons than 2014 when Utah decimated our receivers, Sco Ducks
  12. While the idea of another season with Bo is so tantalizing, I can't help wonder what the upside is. His style of play increases chance of injury and he has shown most of his tools for scouts. If I look at this without green and yellow blinders I just cant see him risking the $. Even with NIL, thats a temporary income but if he gets injured it would cost him a possible career. Heres to hoping my rationale is way off.
  13. Long time reader, made an account just to say, this is the only place I go for duck football news and analysis. Don't let the trolls win, the internet will always have those looking to stir up emotions. Its the cost of using text to communicate, especially indirectly. But we have also had a rollercoaster since having Mario the meathead at the helm but we all need to remember a few things. Pac 12 football is on the rise as a whole, which is good but it means more painful losses are likely. Also, just because emotions run high after a tough loss, we cannot take our frustration out on each other. If anything we should use analysis to cope as I do. So thank you Charles for creating the best community I have seen on the internet since Myspace existed and Dennis Dixon was a Duck. Go Ducks!
