  1. I think it's going to be a very very tough season. Losing Peyton Scott is a real blow -- the backup PG is not close to her ability. It was looking tough before Scott got hurt, and now.... PAC-12 is loaded this year and we aren't. I think Graves' seat should already be hot because he hasn't been able to keep elite players on the roster. Now...
  2. I wonder too. Maybe he doesn't push them -- or maybe he doesn't appreciate them. I have no idea. It is a big red flag that so many talented players left. They clearly were not happy or satisfied. I've always wondered why. I think you may be right that they think they could achieve greater things individually and/or as a team somewhere else.
  3. I think UO has everything that DL wants. I doubt that money is an issue but maybe I'm just naive. The big question is: does he REALLY like Eugene and want to raise his family there? He says he does and I have no reason to doubt him. However, more importantly, does his wife really want to stay and raise the family there?
  4. Paopao and Rogers both averaging about 14 points and 7 assists per game. Prince has three double doubles so far. We could definitely use them this year. Former assistant coach (and top recruiter) Mark Campbell is 3-0 so far at TCU. He turned around the Sacramento State team winning 11 more games than the previous year each of his two years as HC there. Was Campbell (who recruited Sabrina) a bigger reason than Graves for the Ducks' success? All those 5 star recruits left after he left and as spartan said have been very successful at very good teams (tOSU, Notre Dame, Indiana, UCLA, Nebraska, Kentucky). I would think someone needs to take a hard look at the direction Graves' program is going. It is very unfortunate that transfer point guard Peyton Scott is injured and out for the season. Really tough luck for her and for the team.
  5. Phantom PI calls make me furious. That should have been the game right there.
  6. Yup. We really gave them some hope there in those last two minutes. Gonna be a game now.
  7. Please kick an extra point. Cam needs the practice anyhow...
  8. This. Inspired defense that plays a simpler scheme without all the silly slanting, and goes against its past tendencies making it harder to game-plan against. Plus PAC after dark. Plus a certain Heisman winning QB. Makes me much more nervous now that the Grinch is gone. I thought we might set a scoring record against USC, but now I don't know. I'll be happy with a W.
  9. Stein used to play QB. Somehow it's really hard for ex-QB play callers to NOT pass.
  10. If the B1G regents are like the PAC presidents, I doubt any of them watched the game.... But I'm sure FOX is ecstatic! What a deal they got!
  11. Well, there was one stat we didn't win: fourth down conversions. UO 0-3 UW 2-3 But I agree, the stats look good. The team played very well on offense and defense.
  12. Absolutely!! And if we do meet again it will be in Las Vegas, not Montlake. That alone should make a difference.
  13. This. Same with the 4th down play call just before halftime. Great take, Happy.
  14. You know, JB, you're right. I'm glad he's our coach as well.
  15. This is why I wasn't crazy about Lanning's extension. Love the guy. Not sure about his coaching chops. Everyone says he's young and he'll learn. I'm not so sure. His coaching reminds me a bit too much of Brandon Staley of the Chargers, who I cannot stand. I hope he learns...
  16. Bo Nix is awesome. Loyal, classy, faithful. I love this guy! Boy are we lucky he came to Eugene!
  17. Yup. Not to mention Lanning makes about $7M a year more than kickers and safeties do
  18. Tough loss. I like Lanning, but at this point DeBoer is a significantly better coach. Tough loss for players when coaching decisions led to the loss. Not surprised Cam missed. We've seen it before... I don't blame him. This is on Lanning. And two of those fourth down calls seemed pretty lame to me. You would think we would have something better than roll out and hope someone gets open...
  19. I like the way you put it, David: "built differently." Nice analysis! How do you all think that the Ducks will do in really bad weather compared to UW, USC, etc.? Do we have an advantage in rainy and/or windy conditions because we are more balanced? Or is there not much difference now in the days of artificial surfaces and sticky receiver gloves?
  20. Erik Skopil reported today on Duck Territory that Florence only played 16 snaps: "Cornerback Jahlil Florence did not take part in the full contact drills, and was off to the side during stretch — typically a sign of a partial participant. The starting corner played just 16 snaps on Saturday." Updates from Oregon's week five Tuesday football practice 247SPORTS.COM The Ducks held their first of two open practices this week on Tuesday morning. Here's a recap of everything media saw during the 20 available minutes.
  21. I think Sanders is different than Shough in that he is elusive and uses his legs to buy time. He throws extremely well while moving, and is very dangerous in situations where he throws off platform. This poses a real threat because even if you get pressure on him (and we will), he can really hurt you by eluding the pressure and finding his quick receivers. His receivers are well coached and know what to do when he starts scrambling. I think some of Shough's runs were designed, and some he ducked, tucked and ran. In either case his goal was to gain yards, and he is a good runner. Sanders is more likely to step. slide and shimmy around to allow receivers to get open, and then throw it. That's what I saw in limited viewing anyhow. I think Sanders can be far more dangerous.
  22. Thank you for the link, HDuck. I expect the B1G will fold UW and the Ducks into the Flex Protect model. Undoubtedly as each other's "protected opponent."
